About me: As if I don't spend too much time online already, I've caved in to the pressure and formed a MySpace page. Still not really sure why I waited so long; could've been because "everybody else" was doing it, and I was trying to resist being part of the herd. Pffft, a lot of good THAT did me.
Anyhow, I'm here to announce that after four years (!) of being a loyal and hard-working merch-guy to Winnipeg band The Perms, I've decided to go freelance. Imagine (or realize) that you're in a band: You have CDs, t-shirts, buttons, et-cetera which you take with you to gigs. Problem is, maybe you have no-one to sell it; the band members are busy playing, the people who work at the venue are busy working, your friends/family are busy doing whatever they do. It would suck to leave your valuable merchandise just sitting around, or packed away where nobody can see it and then buy it.
That's where I come in.
It would be my pleasure to sell your items (well, not YOUR items, I mean the merch) while you're on-stage, or otherwise occupied. If nothing else, I'd prevent it from mysteriously disappearing. Hey, maybe I'll even help you unload/set up/take down/reload your equipment; just like a real roadie!
My terms are totally negotiable: All I ask in return is a cold beverage or two, perhaps a bite to eat (assuming the venue has a kitchen), and maybe a CD. Depending on when the show's over, maybe a ride home (if the buses aren't running). That's it; I'm not in this to make money (though if you insisted on paying cash, I'd likely accept), my real goal is to hear as much local & live music as possible. And get out of the house more often.
IMPORTANT: My day-job's schedule is pretty bizarre; my shift is 4 PM to midnight, and my evenings off are Sunday and Wednesday. So those evenings are best for me; sorry for the inconvenience. I promise to find a better job soon.
Who I'd like to meet: Local bands/musicians who need somebody to sell their stuff while they're on-stage. Fellow merch-people; we could start some kind of club, maybe?
Hey Dan, this is our unofficial invitation for you to join us at our release party for "Keeps You Up When You're Down," our fourth album!! It all happens at The Cavern on Friday April 3, with special guests filbatross and DJ Penny Lane. Check out the "Shows" section on our page for more details!
Oh man, it's great to hear from ya! I haven't seen you in ages! I've been gettin' by.. I'm living on my own now with my cousin. My mom passed away in October, so I'm learning what it's like to be independant! Oh. And I certainly can't forget all the peeing in the air good times Rebecca and I have together! That's still a go!
How have you been?! What's new and exciting in the world of Dan??!
hur-rah Dan! I've just been dancing around like a psycho! It my birthday on the 16th! Im gonna have the biggest, baddest party ever. but to contain the badness, Im still looking for a huge, casual venue. Turning out harder than I ever imagined. Help me out there master! Iss't that freaky to think about? Alexa & I met you when we were like...like 15! Oh how time flys my friend:(
