Hailing from Montreal, this six-piece ensemble delivers songs ranging from heart-felt country ballads to minor key gypsy folk rock. The songs come from the mind of front-man Dylan Perkons, whose profound lyrics and unique voice give new rise to an old standard. Dylan’s scratchy, sombre delivery is perfectly suited for his melancholic folk and foot-stomping country jams while Lisa Malachowski brings it all home with her haunting yet tender harmonies. The violin, played by Ari Swan, weaves a tale of the travelin’ gypsy; the eerie music is reminiscent of ancient ghosts and old folklore. Terry Boisvert keeps the music lively with his Wilco-esque guitar sounds and a rock solid rhythm section pulls all this madness together, with Adrian Bergman on bass and Rob DeKonick on drums.
