Sounds Like
Everything you could wish for yet nothing else on earth.
Mint Ive are a Nottingham based four piece whose sound combines effects-laden guitars with gritty lyrical asides and definitive rhythm structures that elevate them way beyond many of their contemporaries. Furthermore, their music oozes a passion and charisma not normally associated with the shoegaze genre they’ve become synonymous with in recent times.
Although initially formed in 2006, they’ve developed a reputation as one of the most intense live acts in the Midlands, and since their conception have played shows for the likes of AC30, Sonic Cathedral, Northern Star and Drowned In Sound, sharing stages with the likes of Grammatics, A Place To Bury Strangers, Her Name Is Calla, Exit Calm, The Invisible and The Domino State along the way.
Although currently unsigned, they are currently receiving growing attention from both labels and the media, with two of their songs, ‘To No Avail’ and ‘Paint A Picture (Of The Broken Hearts)’, have recently been included on the highly respected Third Wave Collective and Northern Star compilations ‘Strung Out’ and ‘Revolution In Sound’ respectively. Most recently, they have just finished recording their debut EP ‘Reverence’ with feted producer Ric Peet (Muse, The Charlatans, Six By Seven), which is set for release in Autumn 2009.
“Echoes the halcyon days of Six By Seven mixed with a hefty dose of noise unashamedly borrowed from the band's increasing love affair with the NYC noise scene”(Drowned In Sound)
“These guys are loud. Chest constrictingly, eye polishingly loud.
The Swiss boffins at CERN should experiment on these fellas to see what
happens when protons are collided at sonic boom bass levels. You know
when post rock bands like Explosions in the Sky slowly build to a
howling crescendo? Well Mint Ive start and stay there adding in an extra
layer of vocals. It's impressive…” (Musos Guide)

I'm loving the new tracks very much...especially "To No Avail". It takes my mind far away from this godforsaken city i live in. That's indeed a good thing and all thanks to you. ;-) Looking forward to hearing more.
