MOON BEAR RISING is a CD compilation project designed to raise funds to help Animals Asia rescue and rehabilitate Moon Bears. This will be an annual project and all artists have donated songs for use in the CD with no compensation, to assist Animals Asia in this huge task. Please go to Animals Asia's website to see the incredible work they are doing, to try and free the thousands of bears being held captive in cages barely the size of their bodies. The final day for submissions for the Moon Bear compilation CD will be May, 8th, 2007. Thanks to the bands that have submitted songs for the first CD! We are not affiliated with Animals Asia other than offering a way for musicians to pitch in and help the Moon Bears. 100% of the profits from this CD goes to Animals Asia, a very worthy organization. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE 8 FEET TALL AND NEVER ABLE TO STAND?
This is a Chinese Moon Bear... destined to live its life in this cage with a rusty catheter attached to its gall bladder so that Chinese can extract its "coveted" bile! What would you do if you stood eight feet tall and were never able to stand? What would you do if you lived in a cage with only enough room to stick out a paw for food? What would you do if your teeth were cut off and your nails pulled out? What would you do if your ulcerated insides burned from a rusty catheter thrust into your gall bladder to milk its bile? What would you do if you were an Asian Moon Bear?
This is Andrew saved by Animals Asia from a lifetime in a cage. He had 4 beautiful years of freedom before passing away. We love you Andrew!

A narrow rubber pipe was embedded under the skin and surgically attached to the gall bladder. The farmer extracted the bile through the end of the rubber pipe which exited the skin at the top of the bear's thigh. Animals Asia has received a number of bears with these "old fashioned" latex catheters and as this technique was phased out in the mid-80's, we believe that these bears must have been caged for approximately 20 years. They phased out these catheters only because they because easily clogged and not for any humane reason.
This moon bear is crammed so tightly into this cage that the cage is bulging. The cruelty of some human beings is beyond our comprehension. They must know that the moon bears are suffering. Thus, our only conclusion is that these people are sadistic and enjoy watching the animals suffer.
This mother and child are crammed together into this tiny cage; thankfully they have been rescued. Moon bears suffer tremendously in bile farms.
Pitiful blind & declawed Moon Bear forced to stand & pose for pictures all day.

most people already know about the animal rescue site, but if you don't, please visit it, especially on the weekends, their numbers drop by thousands fri-sun. with 1 simple and free click you can know that you helped feed shelter animals! just think of all those furry, feathery, and sometimes scaly happy faces after a nice tasty bowl! :P

Personally, I hate parking lots --- but we have so many of them! Sitting there, doing nothing but heating up the atmosphere, so solar parking lots! Community-sustained, secure, renewable electricity! Bonus = community jobs! All over America! So I’m back at university learning GIS to analyze each town’s paved parking areas (Greensboro NC (pop 247,000) has 10.27 square miles of it that will power over 500,000 homes (every year) if covered with photovoltaics!) and I’m starting put_a_lid_on_it …………..……….
