you see, the reason for the eddie cochran riff is... ummmm... okay, there's this band called TIger Army and... they do this song called 20 flight rock, see... it's an eddie cochran cover... and i gotta admit they do a bang up job of covering it... well, see, we thought it would be appropriate to use that guitar riff in a gay love song for nick13 cuz, ummmm, he covers that song and, well, Tiger Army played it the first night i saw them on 04/12/96, the night i first met nick13 and fell in love...
not to sound too much like Vanilla Ice here (our song goes dun-dun-dun-DUN-dun-dun-dun-dun...DUN-dun-dun-dun-DUN-dun-dun-dun-dun... see the difference? ) i believe if you compare the "tune" or "melody" of our song and the "tune" of 20 flight rock you will will find no similarity whatsoever, but yeah, it was intended to be obvious that we were lifting the "tiger army" guitar riff for comedic purposes... i believe it is referred to as a musical "quote", something like playing a lick from "mary had a little lamb" would be in a cover of nine inch nails' "closer". i suppose i could have also just used a digital sample of any old tiger army song but that would probably have been pretty expensive to clear the rights to...
to save anyone who might be so inclined the trouble of pointing it out later, yes, at the end of the song we also quote/appropriate/paraphrase/shamelessly and gleefully steal the cheer from cyndi lauper's "hey, mickey!" (YES WE KNOW, IT WAS TONI BASIL HAHAHA), here changing it to "hey nicky!"
ooooh, related story: once we were doing a show with the chop tops (awesome band by the way) and they started playing "20 flight rock" and these girls at the bar got all excited and one of them yelled "Oooooh, come on, they're playing that TIGER ARMY song!!!" and dragged her friends out onto the dance floor...

We have been around. Remember that time when we played at that restaurant and we kept calling those yuppies a bunch of cunts and the club manager came and told us we were done and i yelled at him to get the fuck off my stage and started swinging my guitar at him like a battleaxe and he sent that HUGE bouncer over and the guy picked me up and body slammed me and i thought my back was broken but later the doctor said it was just a case of seperated ribs and then they finally let me outta the hospital the next day and i was all doped up and still in my hospital gown and we rushed downtown and played that all ages afternoon show and my ass was hanging out of my gown the whole time and after we finished we just sat on the stage and made out with all those girls? And that show at bam-bam's where that stripper was dancing to that Link Wray song (-ed.) and larry jammed that beer bottle up her ass and then i pissed on the drums in the middle of "nervous breakdown" and the drummer quit the band and left and we were all still onstage and i started playing his pissy drums and my girlfriend came up and we started making out while the band played and then we ended up fucking right there and after awhile the whole crowd ended up on the stage and all those other people started playing our instruments and they were playing some crappy blues jam while we humped and you threw the bass head onto the drums and it snapped the neck off the bass and then larry set the stage on fire and the club owner shut us down and said he wasn't gonna pay us for that " crap" and we were lucky we weren't in jail after fucking a 13 year old on his stage and then he made us pay for the microphone we broke? And all those shows where i got blowjobs during my guitar solos? Damn i miss the purple onion... And what about that show we played with Tiger Army?
