Influences
I am heavily influenced by the country of Norway and (more specifically) the city of Bergen and its many talented musicians! One of the most prominent being Sondre Lerche and his band "The Faces Down!" (Kato Adland, Morten Skage, and Ole Ludvig) Other fantastic and influential artists': Sergeant Petter, Major Seven and the Minors, Sissy Wish, HP Gundersen, Mari Persen, Tommy Haltbakk, Matias Tellez, Julian Berntzen, Marit Larsen, Knutsen og Ludvigsen, House of Hiss, and many others!
I'm also influenced by: Sylvie Lewis, Ambulance Ltd, of Montreal, Prefab Sprout, XTC, Dan Wilson, Phoenix, Status Quo, Led Zeppelin, Cole Porter, ELO, Ben Folds, Elvis Costello, Sia, Matt Pond PA, Nellie Mckay, Rilo Kiley, Glen Hansard, and MANY, MANY others'!
Also, if it wasn't for my brother Dan, I wouldn't be where I am today. He gave me the tools and drive to love music the way I do. Thank you!
In addition: Erik and Lars Hagglund. If not for them I would never have learned guitar!

Nathan Parent is a 20 year old singer songwriter currently based in his hometown of Ashland, WI.
When it comes to his music, Nate is as dedicated as they come. He spends his days laughing about anything and everything, making sure to enjoy himself in whatever he does. His guitar is his life and his words are his soul; helping him to create the very music that drives him to be heard by the entire world. If you've ever had the opportunity to meet him or hear his music live, you'll know that he is very shy and sometimes overly talkative, but at the same time quite charming. If you have not met him, however, hopefully you will get the chance in the near future.
Nate is very thankful for all the support he has had in the past year and always remembers the people that help him out. He hopes to one day meet everyone that has listened to his music and personally thank them with a nice hug and a kind word.
He recently collaborated with Petter Folkedal (AKA: Sgt. Petter) at Galant Records in Bergen, Norway to create a few demos for further promotion of his music and has now added that music to this page! Hopefully everyone has had the chance to check it out and enjoys it!
More music is always on the way and Nate appreciates all of the comments! He is currently working with Ryan Rusch in Washburn, Wi finishing his first album!
Stay tuned!
"You're Mine" Live Performance in Bergen, Norway!
Check out my new song called, "Dueling Hearts" live with my band at Stage North!
Alright...I have an idea. You need to write a few more songs in a similar style to Sob Story and Night Thoughts...you know that lovely dark, jazzy, smoke-filled bar with James Bond sipping a vodka martini (shaken, not stirred) in the back of the room kind of sound...anyway! Write them, let me sing them, and we'll have a cabaret night of sorts...???...profit!!!!
I was pretty (pleasantly) surprised about the whole thing. It was a whole lot of fun. At the moment I'm mostly tangled up in school -- I finish in March -- and I'm wasting my musical time trying to revamp my website. But I have been writing somewhat, especially on Omnichord. How about you? What's going on in your musical life?
Finally listened to "St. Annie" and also "At 18." "St. Annie" has that "White Album" era Beatles guitar sound (i.e. "Birthday," "USSR"...etc.) Both "St. Annie" and "At 18" are very different sounds from you. Did you write "At 18" when you were 18, and just decided to put it up/record it? Either way, it has a nice flow to it.
yes, its mellow. do you have wireless internet. it would be a good place to chill. i no this is irrevalant. but i just turned 18 so am getting kicked out by the end of the week =p and me and some bayfield kids are getting a band together. im stoked. hows ur life?
Yeah man. Definitely hints of her in the lyrics peppered throughout. I enjoyed that. =) Would you like to hear a song that I wrote & recorded that is *heavily* influenced by her (not lyrically, but musically?) If so, you can download it here: http://www.last.fm/music/Sleep+Book/_/Bedroom+Eyes I hope you enjoy. =)
we're just working right now trying to save up some money, and I'm planning on attending IPR in minneapolis in October. As far as shows/touring goes we're still trying to figure things out, but we'll definitely let you know what comes up, it'd be sweet to play some shows together.
