Metal boys, geeks, ranters, trailer parks, fauvism, bleak movies, learning new stuff, pondering what I did to deserve such a magnificently sexy boyfriend, arguing the Oxford comma, accordions, sleazy motels, making music videos, kitties, WWE, beautiful girls with visible emotional scars, pondering what I did to deserve such a nightmarishly contrary boyfriend...

  • Music

It's not really music, but I took the offspring to see Eddie Izzard perform at the Arlene Schnitzer and it was fantastic beyond words. Saw George Michael in Seattle. Wonderful!! Spent waaay too much to see Rufus Wainwright play at the Newmark Theater. Before that, saw the Decemberists at the Crystal Ballroom. It was fun but the band was rusty. Still on an Edith Piaf kick. Still loving Rufus, Fiona, Dandy Warhols (side note: I've always wanted to start a band called Dandy Rooneys just to irritate Courtney Taylor), and old Milla Jovovich. Subjected to lots of My Chemical Romance and Green Day. Others on constant rotation include: Rufus Wainwright, Tom Waits, The Decemberists, Grant-Lee Phillips, XTC, Robyn Hitchcock, Elliott Smith, and Elvis Costello.

  • Movies

    My Top Five Movies:

Lolita - (Lyne's, not Kubrick's. Purists eat me.)
    The Fisher King
    Delicatessen
    My Own Private Idaho
Moulin Rouge - (Purists eat me)

  • Television

You know those people who write, "I don't really watch TV. I'd rather read a book" on their MySpace profiles? Those people are big, fat liars. I watch tons of TV. So there. Most of my week is consumed with hours of WWE and American Idol. The rest of my DVR space is filled with Mad Money, Suze Orman, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Antiques Roadshow, House, South Park, Dexter, Californication, and America's Next Top Model marathons...
  • Books

Finished Chris Jericho's book "A Lion's Tale: Around the World in Spandex." It was very enjoyable, and YouTube makes a great multimedia companion for looking up the matches and promo spots described in the book. Ditto for Mick Foley's book "Have A Nice Day: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks." Before that-- Almost Home; a short book written by Damien Echols from death row. Though it clearly lacked a proofreader, it's still an interesting read. Sad, enraging, pretty much what you'd expect. But there is something about Damien Echols... once you learn about him, you can't forget him. If those murders hadn't happened, he would have continued to be a nobody, living and dying, as he put it, in a trailer park no one's ever heard of. Well, we've heard of it now. And we've heard of him. Surely this truth isn't lost on him...

What I've been Up To!

Frequently asked question: "What exciting projects are you working on now, Joni?"

The answer: Producer and Editor of Miles Around TV for the gregarious Dennis Pittsenbarger.

Eventually, another video for Nicodemus, and continuing to work for Babygirl Boutique and Miles Around Radio/TV.

And of course, Rick and I are always working to get Bigger Than Jesus: The Diary of a Rock & Roll Fan into the homes, hearts, and DVD players of as many suckers.. er... music fans as possible!

There's a more detailed (and terribly dull) bio on my Blog. To summarize: I make films -- both long and short, music videos, teevee, and stuff like that. Sometimes I do photography.

I've been blessed to work with many amazing, talented folks, including but not limited to..

Christopher Morris: Muse, Boy Toy, Second-Tier Famous prog metal nerd.
Rick Emerson: Workaholic, punctuation Nazi, guy who taught me to Write in Threes (I'm using the serial comma lest I summon his rage.. even though only tools use serial commas).
Nate Baker: Broadcast professional, happy drunk.
♥ Sigfried Seeliger: Lighting guru, keeper of heads in freezers.
♥ Marey Ryan: Tireless beauty, wields a mighty blush brush.
Jairus Minsky: A fine Art Director in his own right.
