About me:
 IF YOU REALLY CARE AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW I was born for some reason on Planet Earth, at the central train station of Athens, Greece, as an off-white man bearing the strange and unusual name Nikolaos Veropoulos (which translated it means Victorious over the People Son of Truth) on August 15, 1954 A.D. (After Doomsday). I have followed my path in this life until now being known as Nikolas (Nikos) to some people, as White Feather to others, and as The Greek Indian to everyone who has met me on this journey. The name White Feather was given to me by the Cherokee medicine man Grey Wolf when I was living with the American Indians in the USA and fighting for their rights on and off for almost 20 years. I have shared my life with the Powhattan of Rankokus Reservation in NJ, with the Shawnee of the Poconos Mountains in PA, with the Lakota of Pine Ridge and Rosebud in SD, with the Western Federation Cherokees in Bartlesville OK, and with many other Nations in NE, FL, OK and NY States and in Canada (Ontario). As a member of PURA FE's native band, I performed music of the Turtle Island in the East Coast, until I formed my own band ARROWHEAD, which made this kind of music known in the Balkans. In the year 2002 I was appointed Ambassador of the Lakota Nation in Europe (with main office in Athens, Greece) by the AIM co-founder Russell Means, who was running for Governor of New Mexico at the time. The goal was to convince the Greek Socialist Goverment to recognize the Lakota sovereignty and accept the Lakota Basketball Team compete in the 2004 Athens Olympics as an independent nation (status which applies to the Lakota Nation until today under the Treaties of Fort Laramy and Bear Butte, reconfirmed by the US government in 1991). Despite my efforts for months, the former Foreign Ministrer G.Papandreou, a devoted ally of President Bush, opposed our petition co-signed by 30.000 greek citizens and in 2003 the Lakota Embassy was finally denied its recognition by the Greek government and had to be abolished. Never the less, a few years later and after I moved to Brazil, looks like things are turning upside down and the Lakota finally gain their independence as a free nation. Now the whole world is watching!   PLEASE DO NOT GET CONFUSED: I am NOT a Native American, I never claimed to be one, and I don't like to pose as someone else. It was only pure fate that I had a mission to accomplish, which made me live among my Indian Brothers for 20 years, a period of time that effected my life and my thinking for ever. The name White Feather was given to me by Grey Wolf because he strongly believed that I was a Cherokee in a previous life. That was the greatest honor ever made to me, so I proudly adopted it and used it as my name ever since. Who am I then? I am just a poor musician and art lover, citizen of the world, a contemporary Ulysses who is consciously trying to delay reaching his Ithaca... After residing in Brazil for 6 years ~ between the mountains and the jungle on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean ~ I am back to Greece again, from where I will continue my mission. My illegal imprisonment without a court hearing, followed by a deportation from Brazil in August 2009 by the Brazilian Government authorities and carried out by the Policia Federal, which was based on my activism and my involvement with the Amazonian Indians cause, an absurd and totally against the Human Rights action that was triggered by two blogs I posted on the Internet about the slaughter of an entire Indian village by paid murderers, covered with pictures taken on location, brought me back to Athens. Even though I was obliged under life threatening conditions to delete those blogs, I am not about to give up and I am preparing a come back to keep on fighting for what is right. So, at the moment on one hand Nikos is struggling to survive with his music as a true Rembetis singer, while White Feather, on the other, is still part of the international movement to free the innocent Indian activist Leonard Peltier from his life imprisonment and fulfill his mission on the Indian Rights front around the world.... If being human is still considerd a good quality today, then I suppose this is probably my best quality, otherwise there is nothing I can do to improve myself, I am hard headed and I am trying to remain human. Then I think to myself that nobody is perfect and that thought makes me feel better. Well, I have traveled and experienced the world in a unique way, I have met remarkable people, I had the incredible luck to be part of two unique separate cultures, I introduced myself to the magic of music, learned how to fly in the skies, practically attained almost everything my heart desired and I created memories for more than a life time... But as soon as I realized that everything that I achieved so far already belongs to the past and all my dreams to the future, I got enlighted: ***LIFE IS HERE AND NOW*** So I play my guitar under the stars, fully aware that beyond my expectations, the sun may not rise for me again tomorrow morning...
