OctavePussY (OPY) is a NL-based group of musicians playing U da funk, more funk and nothing but da funk. Their music can best be described as urBANNED funk, da funk they can’t handle today. People are blinded by da bling but da bling ain’t got the swing remember?
Currently OPY’s main musicians are WaHaze (all instruments, producer), SpareRibs (lead vocals, guitar) and Efartu La Tuheru (bass guitar, vocals). It’s in da stars 2008 will be a good year 2 drop some new funk tracks, so that’s what U can expect: funk on wax. Tracks on wax and with guests!
We suggest you keep you and your ears focused on our MySpace and website, check them frequently since we’re gonna put some tracks on-line! Good 2 your ears!
OctavePussY (OPY) was founded in the mid nineties (after the funk revival at full steam) when WaHaze and SpareRibs created a solid music fundament, to be used finally in full effect around 1999 when they found Kamardski Steuzelkov (vocals) and Fuzzhead (guitar) to join the forces. The four youngsters came up with OPY’s first album “Propagations Of The Classical Groove” (2001). All session musicians used during the recordings decided 2 stay and a live band was formed, soon disreputable for their stage funk ejaculation: most of the time right in your face.
In 2005 (OctavePussY already has grown to a 12 piece funk machine) released their second album “Here_Are_The_Results_Of_A_Universal_Jury”, accompanied by many live gigs in The Netherlands, Germany and the UK.
Their latest CD-single “Goodies Of The Past” was aborted before reachin’ its peak when a few band members suddenly let OPY down, just before a summer tour. After that the decision was made to freeze the live band.
But don’t worry. Thangs might have changed, but the music didn’t. And if you are a funkateer who fears the funk will be a dead-ending road, you’d better stop worrying. This road will always be open for traffic. Certainly when it comes to one of Europe’s hottest funkbands: OctavePussY (O.P.Y!). We will never quit on da funk unless the funk quit on us.
OctavePussY (OPY) has worked with several funk music architects . James Brown’s famous JB’s’ Danny Ray and Fred Thomas, Funkoverlord George Clinton and masters of guitarists Micheal Hampton, Gary Shider and Blackbyrd Mc Knight.
Also Slapbak’s Jara Harris and Stevie Salas are captured on a track.
As said, OctavePussY (OPY) will drop about four 7” and 12” records. First one will be free on-line and we have free copies for professional funk DJ’s. The others are for sale. Remember: the more records we sell, the more records we make. Us non-profit. We got jobs to keep thangs going, we got the funk to keep us going, so we need to keep the funk going… keep the funk alive!
