Transgenic music, stoner-pop, Post-Electro? No matter what, any of those genres are fitting for those concerned in labeling sound and would dare define O Garfo. The instrumental trio from Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil is releasing their 2nd EP – Epizod – with four songs (+1 bonus track), through the Midsummer Madness label from Rio de Janeiro.
Released before the 1st EP (still delayed to this day), this album was recorded in a home studio, and has drummer João Victor as the musical producer and features illustrations from Felipe Diaz. From the repertoire to the artwork, Epizod is a brief record, however it is symptomatic of the band’s new perspective – being strictly an “on stage” band before and missing its own discography in a career spanning little over two years.
Now, Midsummer Madness, a label from Rio de Janeiro (which is celebrating 20 years of existence), presents this 5-song album as the calling card of this trio which has played in some important concerts in Brazil. O Garfo was one of the highlights of the III Festival Se Rasgum, in Pará, and also the Festival Nordeste Independente editions of Natal and João Pessoa. O Garfo was also featured in the cast of festivals like Grito Rock (Fortaleza, Cuiabá, Uberlândia, Montes claros and Goiânia), DoSol, in Natal, Mundo, in Paraíba, and Rock-Cordel, Forcaos, BNB de Música Instrumental and Feira da Música in their hometown of Fortaleza.
Música transgênica. Stoner-pop, Post-eletro?! Enfim, qualquer coisa dessas serve para quem se preocupa em enquadrar sonoridades e arrisque definir O Garfo. O trio instrumental de Fortaleza (Ce) lança o 2° EP – Epizod – com quatro músicas (+1 bônus), através do selo Midsummer Madness (RJ).
Lançado antes do primeiro EP (embargado até hoje), o disco foi gravado em home studio, traz produção musical de João Victor e arte do ilustrador Felipe Diaz. Do repertório ao apelo do projeto gráfico, Epizod é um disco breve, porém sintomático de uma nova perspectiva d..O Garfo – antes uma banda “de palco” e devedora da própria discografia em pouco mais de dois anos de carreira.
Agora, o selo carioca Midsummer Madness – no ano que comemora duas décadas de existência - apresenta esta bolacha de 5 músicas como cartão de visitas do trio que já esteve em bons palcos pelo Brasil. O Garfo foi destaque do III Festival Se Rasgum (PA) e das edições de Natal (RN) e João Pessoa (PB) no Festival Nordeste Independente. E ainda figurou na programação dos festivais Grito Rock (Fortaleza, Cuiabá – MT, Uberlândia – MG, Montes Claros – MG e Goiânia – GO), DoSol (RN), Mundo (PB) e dos locais Rock-Cordel, Forcaos, BNB de Música Instrumental e Feira da Música.
