Pamela Andrews (some form of soprano: those who think I'm a coloratura mezzo-soprano, please join the kids on the stage with placards; those who are insistent that I will turn out to be a dramatic soprano, please take a seat in the waiting-room; and, those who believe that I'm a lyric soprano, please join the end of the ever-growing queue around the corner). As for accompanying artists, well; I use a few really fabulous accompanists, but my FAVOURITES are: Karen Smithies, Dr Shirley Trembath, Michael Curtain and Angela Brinkhoff.

Sounds Like
A young mezzo-soprano with a lot of top end. Or do I sound like a really young dramatic soprano? ... Or do I sound like the beginnings of a lyric soprano? Hmmm... Maybe I'll turn out to be a baritone!
Pamela Andrews (B.Mus. (Hons), A.Mus.A, Dip.Mus.) was born and raised in Launceston, Tasmania, and commenced classical vocal study under Sharyn Martin in 2002. Pamela completed a Diploma of Music in 2004, an Associate of Music diploma (AMEB) in 2006, a Bachelor of Music in 2007, and a Bachelor of Music with Honours in 2008, all of which were completed studying under Marilyn Smith at the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music. Pamela has received numerous prizes and awards in eisteddfods around Tasmania, including the City of Launceston Aria Award (2007), the DJ Mazda Operatic Aria Award (Hobart, 2007) and the Enid Spencer McDougall Encouragement Award (Hobart, 2007). Pamela was nominated for the Director's Prize at the Conservatorium in 2007, and has appeared as a soloist for the Derwent Symphony Orchestra, IHOS Music Theatre & Opera, Tasmania University Musical Society, City of Launceston Carols by Candlelight. In November, 2007, Pamela premiered the role of “Paquita Delpratt” in Joe Bugden's chamber opera, The Call of Aurora. Pamela hopes to complete the requirements for a Licentiate of Music (AMEB) in 2008.
At the red of the dawn O'er the dew-spangled lawn Where I meet the new day like a kiss...
I'm a proud soprano of the super-funky, Hobart-based Southern Gospel Choir (nominated for an ARIA in 2005 for their debut release, Great Day), directed by Andrew Legg, and the soprano member of the Consorte di Interroti Sospiri.
The songs featured on this page are from my recitals performed at the University of Tasmania's Conservatorium of Music, and the copyright belongs to the University for the recordings. I like to upload tracks to share my progress with others, and would like to stress that I'm not, in any way, attempting to infringe the copyright!
Please note: I don't mind people leaving me comments with moderately-sized pictures of themselves in them, or a little spiel about an upcoming song/album release - whatever - but I'm getting really pissed off with people who keep leaving me notes which are purely advertising gimmicks. What am I, a BILLBOARD? Bugger off. I'll delete them. And then I'll delete you. Just WATCH me exercise that soprano temper!
Please watch this video and support my favourite people in the whole wide world: the Southern Gospel Choir!
Hey! how are you? I'm enjoying my summer off and teaching some piano lessons here and there. I'll be going to a music teacher's conference next week so I'm excited about that. I hope your well,
You're so sweet Pamela... tell you all. That gave me a laugh and believe me, I need one. Tonight was a dinner with musicians of many genres, but all easy-listening. Tomorrow a great artist on my page is playing a street scene close to where I live, but I'm very private, or like small gatherings of gentle people (usually:), not always), street scenes are not easy for me.
Anyway, on my own I listen to the gamut. I'm quite ecclectic. I love Todd Rundgren (old school), Pages (old school). I love Opera from continent to continent... I'm in love with Mimi Coerste's version of "The Russian Nightingale". It's on youtube. I need a weekly fix of her and Maria Callas and I love those three Tenors, including the one from the UK Idol, I just love that guy (Potts ?)... maybe because he lived so humbly his whole life with "that voice".
I love this opera/type singer that is so deep from the soul, she's a rarity... Lisa Gerrard (sp?). An opera singer on here (myspace), told me of her because they might work together, Lisa is on myspace too. I could go on, but this is the longest comment I've left since getting on myspace about a month and a half ago. I hope life is good for you in Australia.
"In the process of seeing and understanding, one acts at the very moment of this direct perception, in which, the immediate action is the act of Sacred Emptiness in the present, here and now, and the immediate and direct result is the Perfect Enlightenment!"
Thank you for adding to my page with that beautiful voice of yours :) I am a huge fan of opera, and I am so happy when I get another opera singer! Thank you :) It's a great pleasure to have you on my new page for musicians. Please stop by and say hello!
Pammie!!! So good to hear from you!!! You look like and angel on your picture and also you are performing quite often!!! How are things with you and your life? We should catch up :)
Apologies for the mass comment but I really need your help!

Awww Thank you! Oh I bet you could work in the classroom if you tried. Although, I have to admit it is becoming more challenging by the hour. I've been working around the clock getting my christmas program ready. What is the age range of your private students? I'm teaching one 10 year old, but that is all that I've had time for. I don't even have time to get the word out that I'm giving lessons! That is so exciting. I've had dreams about going to Italy for a summer and studying there with someone amazing, but I just love teaching so much more than performing. There are plenty of performers out there with better voices than me anyway. Thanks again, I love hearing from you.
I ditched myspace for Facebook too. I have this site, but not my normal one. Check me out on Facebook under my full name. I should pop up in the Greenville, SC network. Hope you've been well!
That's great! I'm so glad you're enjoying yourself! My rep for auditions is: O Boundless, Boundless Evening, Se tu m'ami, Au bord de l'eau, Immer leiser wird mein Schlummer, Jubal's Lyre, Ach ich liebte, Mi chiamano Mimi, and Marietta's Lied. So, really, it's mostly stuff I've done before, with the exception of Marietta's Lied which is my new favorite song to sing. What about you? What are you working on?
