About me:

With music, culture, and family as the core of my inspiration, rok:her:roots was born in the fall of 2005 as an edgy twist on vintage; resurrecting 80's glam rock and roll and recognizing classic Hollywood style. rok:her's earrings are constructed from Fender guitar picks, vintage bullet shells, sterling silver/14 KT plated findings, semi-precious stones and are bedazzled with Swarovski crystals and beads. Each pair is then named after a renowned musician, formulating jewelry that is entirely unique. Clothing is designed from vintage textiles and each piece is lock, stock and barrel exclusive. Because I am all about “keeping it real”, I title each design after the genre of music that it echos. rok:her:roots' main philosophy entices the public with the notion that fashion is not about rules. It's simply about art and expression. If you think something is mind-blowing …do not be afraid to ROCK IT! My hope is that my designs continue to attract people from all walks of life and make each person who wears them feel euphoric.

Metro Arts is now accepting applications for Two Rivers Expo, the November arts festival held at Hy-Vee Hall in downtown Des Moines. 150 artists will be accepted in 13 categories: 2D mixed media, 3D mixed media, ceramics, drawing, glass, fiber, jewelry, metal, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood.

You can apply by visiting Zapplication.org, finding Metro Arts Two Rivers Expo under "Participating Shows" and creating a profile. The application fee is $35, and all applications must be received by May 15.
