Sanctuary is about helping other people! It is not a group, but an album of music supporting charities which help victims of domestic violence. Sanctuary was recorded in July 2007 at Glenstal Abbey, Co. Limerick, Ireland.
The album features artists: Moya Brennan, Mary Coughlan, Cara O'Sullivan, Noirin Ni Riain, her sons - Eoin Ó Súilleabháin and Mícheál P. Ó Súilleabháin, Jimmy O'Brien-Moran, his son - James O'Brien-Moran, Nassau Royal, Tonnta, the Monks of Glenstal and many others. The genres of music include: Traditional Irish; Folk; Gregorian Chant; Contemporary Popular and Classical.
Domestic violence affects people from every walk of life, every social class, women, children and men. The compilation of musical styles in our album reflects that fact - violence in the home can effect anyone so in this 'Sanctuary' we hope to provide something for everyone.
All profits from the album will go to: ADAPT HOUSE in Limerick, which provides support to women and children; AMEN, which is a national support to male victims of violence in the home, and the ISPCC (Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). All the artists have given of their work and time at no cost. In fact, they have raised the money to pay for the production of this album so that these charities will benifit from the sale of the very first CD.
We invite you to become a friend of Sanctuary and add your voice to those working against violence in the home. Drop in from time to time as we change the tracks, so you can get to hear the whole album. We'd be glad to receive your comments. Hope you enjoy the music!

Hi there, thank you for the friend request. I love what you stand for and the work that you are doing. If only there were more like you in this world how much safer it would be. Keep up the good work. Take care my friends.
Hi Joseph, Thanks for getting me involved, it was a great night! Sorry i had to run off so early, looking forward to the next collaboration. There's one or two musicians who played that night that i might try and get a hold of at some stage to do some recording with if thats possible? Cellist and Bodhran player in particular. Have a good holiday, talk to you soon.
Sure give me a call whenever! What if I pop up to Derry on the 2nd (morning or whenever)? I'd love to get back down to Glenstal, I made sure to take a few pictures while I was there!
I will not sing Púirt haha. I'm terrible with starting on the right key. I might though for after party number 2! As long as you sing some chant, and Moya sings Pill a Run O!
I'm in brilliant form thanks, on the mend! Hope everything is good there!
Hallo! Definitely! Will you be in Derry or Armagh? I'd love to come up and help out! Thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to go down to Glenstal, it was such a unique and amazing experience! How is the album doing? There have been articles flying up everywhere! I'm actually listening to 'The Song of Wandering Aengus' at the minute. Hope everything's going well, I'm still completely awe-struck!!

i heard there was a secret chord that david played and it pleased the lord but you don't really care for music, do you well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth the minor fall and the major lift the baffled king composing hallelujah
hallelujah...
well your faith was strong but you needed proof you saw her bathing on the roof her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you she tied you to her kitchen chair she broke your throne and she cut your hair and from your lips she drew the hallelujah
hallelujah...
baby i've been here before i've seen this room and i've walked this floor i used to live alone before i knew you i've seen your flag on the marble arch but love is not a victory march it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah
hallelujah...
well there was a time when you let me know what's really going on below but now you never show that to me do you but remember when i moved in you and the holy dove was moving too and every breath we drew was hallelujah
well, maybe there's a god above but all i've ever learned from love was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you it's not a cry that you hear at night it's not somebody who's seen the light it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah
