About me:

I edited my profile with Thomas.. Myspace Editor V3.6!

I'm the director of the documentary feature film about the great Scott Walker; one of the most influential and enigmatic figures in rock history.

The film World Premiered at the 50th London Film Festival in 2006, debuted Internationally at the Berlin Film Festival in the Panorama in '07 and has been playing around the world since then and will soon be making it's way to a screen near YOU.

It's a history of his music and career, from his early days as a jobbing bass player on the Sunset Strip, to mega-stardom in Britain's swinging 60's pop scene as a member of The Walker Brothers, to his evolution into one of the most astonishing soundmakers of the last few dacades.

He's 63 years old and has just released his first album in over 10 years, "The Drift" on 4 A.D. Records (out May 23 in the USA). The 4 and 5 star reviews are rolling on in! Visit the film's website for more info, reviews, and to join the MAILING LIST, which will keep you up-to-date on future screenings. The film features exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the album as well as interviews with friends, collaborators, and fans including, among others:

David Bowie, Radiohead, Jarvis Cocker, Brian Eno, Damon Albarn, Neil Hannon, Marc Almond, Alison Goldfrapp, Sting, Dot Allison, Simon Raymonde, Richard Hawley, Rob Ellis, Johnny Marr, Gavin Friday, Lulu, Peter Olliff, Angela Morley, Ute Lemper, JD Beauvallet, Ed Bicknell, Evan Parker, Hector Zazou, Phil Sheppard,Pete Walsh...and SCOTT WALKER.

Amazing film. I've waited years for a thorough documentary on Scott Walker, and Stephen Kijak's "30th Century Man" delivers a superb presentation.

The visual technique of digital graphics animating still photo stock into real time brings history to life, and I was most impressed by the film's dynamic colors, thoughtful compositions, how there was a marriage between life story, music, imagery and Nature, therefore having a metaphysical quality. I am aware that it took an entire team to build this film but it's crafted in such a way that feels personally navigated by one artist so quite warm and personable.

So many films these days can be too busied with graphics and fast moving pans, and the usual documentary is full of slow going close ups fixated on talking heads, but this documentary cleverly treats Scott Walker's music legacy as if Wem Wenders' hands were involved.

I liked very much, too, how while listening back to the narratives of former colleagues and those inspired were put into an Anton Breton split screen, so one's reaction complimented the other-- truly powerful, especially when knowing the subjects were filmed in different locations and times and were more than likely strangers to one another, but the one thing in common was their souls reacting to Scott's soul-- and, quite remarkably, my personal experience felt as if I, too, was part of the experience.

This film certainly pays high tribute to our century's greatest lyricist and singer, and has given me greater insight on further appreciating Scott's avant garde compositions.

My compliments to Director Stephen Kijak and Producer, David Bowie.

Five Stars all around.
