   About scutopus

The diet is not known; fecal material contains organic (?) crystals and perhaps sediment particles. The radula morphology suggests that the diet is is particle-size dependent, possibly detritus.

- Scheltema 1981

scutopus is your favorite bottom-feeding, shell-less mollusc genus of music. scutopus brings tidings from the ocean floor; these tidings are sometimes purple, sometimes pretty, sometimes noisy, always compelling. ideally, these tidings humble, inspire, alienate, befriend, and illuminate the listener.

scutopus is involved in: brutal dodgeball techno, feeding noise, purple-tinged remixes, uncomfortable comfort music, foghorns...

Cheers mate. You Avalanchers are a mighty nice bunch - really glad you like my music.

Just listening through yours at the mo. Some great noise going here. Particularly enjoying the spacey schizo-beats of "Lightthatcamefromacrossthesea".: )

Cheers,
Jack

I didn't know that guitars have rules. I'll try to bend them anyway though!

Cities have too many humans. That's all I know for sure. Other than that, they're pretty mysterious to me. Luckily, the school I'm going to is in a big forest 5 minutes from downtown PDX. Ideal!

Yay Autechre! That sounds intense!
Thanks for the kind-recording wishes!

Take care of yo' self,

:D

Not just memorable but delightful too! And not just the remixes!

Tape Deck is entirely un-SHREIIKKKCHHHHH-worthy. It's such a wimpy subdued guitar. I'll try to help it do "Feeding" justice though!

Your Newport friend's music is wondrous!! It's exactly what my ears want right this moment, so thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the good luck wishes! I'm gonna need 'em. Cities freak me out immensely. I'm definitely psyched for school and not driving 2.5 hours to rehearsal though!

We should have some new NoF tunes recorded this summer (hopefully!) so I'll let you know when that happens! Thanks for listening to us!

I vaguely remember seeing said words combined on your website long ago, and well, it's an adorable nick-name-type-thing...

Yay for guitars, indeed! Speaking of guitars (and things that I somehow remember from your website from long ago), I indirectly named my guitar after you, sort of! I listened to a portion of "Feeding" and thought to myself: "Wow, this is horrifying!" so I named my purdy green guitar Tape Deck. Hmm, that story lacks logic. Oh well. Apparently your website/music are memorable!

Your remixes are best! Take care,

~Davida
