Having only picked up a guitar for the first time in 2004 at age 16, Shaun Kirk has achieved a great deal in such a short time. Discovering a passion for story telling and an undeniable connection with the guitar, Shaun won the 2006 Basin Music Festival Youth Songwriting Competition and was a top five finalist of the 2008 Queenscliff Music Festival, Foot In The Door Competition in the Blues/Roots & Beyond division. 2008 also saw the release of his first independent EP, ‘Seagulls’; which showcases Shaun’s thought-provoking lyrical style, which arguably comes from a place beyond his tender age.
His sound, while based in blues/roots and folk, has developed from influences ranging from Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, David Bowie, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Jeff Lang, John Lee Hooker and Harry Manx. However, Shaun continues to develop his own sound; mixing his natural groove with a broad range of musical styles, and is now one of Melbourne’s hardest working independent artists.
Shaun’s strong, distinctive vocals, raw beats, resonant guitar sounds and blues harmonica are consistently blended with socially conscious lyrics to deliver a captivating experience for his audience whenever he takes the stage… and if you were to close your eyes, it is somewhat difficult to believe it is only person producing this truly sole sound.
Dedication to his art, and hard work has earned Shaun appearances on radio and TV, including Triple R’s infamous ‘Party Show’ and as The Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society’s feature artist. He has played to large crowds on some of Melbourne’s best known stages including The Espy, The Evelyn, Ruby’s Lounge, The Blues Train, Nighthawk Blues, High Vibes Festival and St Kilda Festival and also has appeared alongside respected Australian artists such as Ash Grunwald, Dallas Frasca, Geoff Achison, Dutch Tilders, Lloyd Spiegel, Carus Thompson, Jimi Hocking, Bobby Flynn, Marshall & The Fro and Nick Charles. Shaun’s reputation as one of Australia’s most promising upcoming artist is growing bigger day by day.
‘Shaun is no doubt a talented and inventive young artist, but in a music scene filled with so many talented young artists, it’s possessing the right attitude and sense of tradition that makes him stand out. I look forward to watching him on his journey’ – Lloyd Spiegel (A&R Cole Clark guitars)
“Shaun has a vocal range I could only dream of having. He is always a pleasure to listen to!” – Dallas Frasca
"Shaun's a young yet established exciting performer, with a natural presence on stage, confidently singing original tunes accompanied by smooth slide guitar and sensible harmonics to croon any audience!” – Dutch Tilders“Shaun’s a wonderful talent. He writes thoughtful songs and has a great groove through his music, not to mention a killer voice. I’m expecting big things!” – Nick Charles
"Shaun has a great vibe on stage and plays a solid mix of rootsy, folky, acoustic joy. Hes a good player and he nails it live - gets the crowd into it. Also a lovely bloke!!!" – Carus Thompson
"Foot Stompin' Beats with a social concience" - Nadine Cloonan (Yarra Valley FM)
"It's not often that someone comes along and grabs your attention like Shaun Kirk does" - Jess Crohan (The Strings Radio Show, 3MDR FM)

This will be one of THE VERY LAST SHOWS to be staged in the famed Band Room of The Pub (173 Hargreaves Street Bendigo), as it will be closing it's doors on Oct 31st.
Sadly, the well-sized band room, which has seen some fantastic nights for live music in Bendigo, will be closed due to lack of punter support over recent times.
Show Gav and the rest of the gang at The Pub that the live music scene in Bendigo is alive and kicking... come along and check out a brilliant night of blues & roots music besides, as the mighty Lee Rosser makes a long-awaited return to Bendigo!
