SISTER is the new band by Carla and Lynette Gillis, whose love of heavy metal has kept them busy since their pre-teens. Also featuring Local Rabbit/Tricky Wooster Ryan Myshrall on bass, SISTER play rhythm-driven songs steeped in vocal harmonies and guitar freakouts. Sometimes they're Heart, and sometimes Neil Young.
The Gillis sisters performed in the Halifax band Plumtree (1993-2000), as well as in the punk trio Absolutely Nothing (1994-1998), the dark pop band Bontempi (2000-present) and the Vancouver-Toronto long-distance experiment Bells Clanging (2006-present).
SISTER covers "View Master" on an upcoming tribute CD to Eric's Trip, out on Gooseberry Records any day now. A full-length album is in the works. Please forgive the sparseness and sound quality of these GarageBand demos.
