SISTER plays tender, heavy folk-metal. Sometimes they're Heart and sometimes Neil Young, depending on the club's sound that night. It's the new band by Carla and Lynette Gillis, whose love of heavy metal has kept them busy since their pre-teens.
The Gillis sisters performed in the 90s Halifax indie band Plumtree, as well as in the punk trio Absolutely Nothing, the dark pop band Bontempi and the Vancouver-Toronto long-distance experiment Bells Clanging.
SISTER covers "View Master" on an upcoming tribute CD to Eric's Trip, out on Gooseberry Records. A full-length album is in the works, with Peter Elkas manning the soundboard.
Won't be in Toronto on the third, but have a great show! Come to Halifax and play a show with The Lodge sometime. Or with anyone else, for that matter.
