Family, blood and otherwise but especially otherwise, anyone with a story to tell, Meriwether Lewis, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Akira Kurosawa, Montana (particularly Butte & Anaconda) and the American West.
Slackeye Slim is the alter ego of Joe Frankland, a native of Ohio’s Rust Belt region. He grew up playing bass guitar in various punk, indie and noise bands. At the age of 21, Joe moved to the Rocky Mountain mining town of Butte, Montana. He returned to Ohio in 2005, and as he grew out of punk rock, he began to tap into the wealth of inspiration that he found in the mountains, ghost towns, history, and people of Southwest Montana, as well as the distance between himself and modern society. The result was Slackeye Slim’s 2007 debut album, Texas Whore Pleaser, a collection of misanthropic weird west cowboy songs.
Texas Whore Pleaser: available at CD Baby and record stores everywhere or digitally at iTunes, Amazon MP3, etc.

In the spring of 2008, Frankland packed up his things and returned to Southwest Montana, this time setting his sights on the small town of Anaconda. After nearly a year of experimenting with different musical styles, work began on Slackeye Slim’s second album, El Santo Grial: La Pistola Piadosa. A collaborative effort between Joe Frankland and fellow Midwest refugee, Graham Lindsey, Santo Grial is influenced as much by samurai films, spaghetti westerns, and history as it is by the huge collection of music that influences Slackeye Slim. Look for it early in 2010.
In addition to Slackeye Slim, Joe Frankland is a member of The Perreze Farm and also sits in with Graham Lindsey on bass and guitar.

That was one hell of a show you and the Perezze Farm put on last Saturday at the Blue Luna's "The Last Cowboy" festival. Mark your calendar now for same time next year!
Finally got a minute in my busy days to check out that new tune, and I have to say it's awesome (but did anyone have any doubts about that?). Hope you two are doin well, and everyone else up that way.
Things are looking up for me finally, all I really need left to do is find a fucking "real" job with a paper trail so I can start saving up a stash of money. Hopefully this week when I look into applying for a Grant I will qualify and get accepted and then wont have to worry so much about financial issues. Keep the music coming and stay real man; we'll see you folks sooner than later I'm sure.
