Formed at the turn of the century, Sonnet65 have blossomed into Kirriemuir’s favourite fiddle embellished mesmerising epic emotional pop-rock outfit. They have played literally thousands of gigs, and impressed audiences from Aberdeen to Glasgow, Edinburgh to Carlisle, Cambridge to Co. Mayo, Dundee to China, and back to Kirrie.
In 2006 they were one of the 48 T-Break finalists, picked from over 1000 Scottish acts. The massive travelling support, would be an insperation later in the summer as they wen on to win a national Battle of the Bands.
In 2007 Sonnet did China, where they performed at the opening ceremony of the Dalian International Beach Festival as well as performing in Beijing and Shanghai.
Despite all of this, their high point came recently in 2008, when they were not only mentioned by Stuart Webster on Tay FM, but also had their surely-to-be smash-hit single Now Is A Fine Time played over the air by the Lord Of Breakfast Shows himself.
Just letting everyone know we are playing in the TAY FM Battle Of The Bands this Sunday at Chambers Bar! This is the first heat and progression is only available through public vote! So we urge you to come along and drop a big, fat 14 into the Ballot Box! (Metaphorically of course! Its not a euphionism for poo!)
