Bio
..Unleashed from the yielding greenery of Dorset and sent spiralling headfirst into the smouldering arms of dirty, dirty Chatham, the raw and unsettling art blues of Stuart Turner has violently hacked out a unique niche and sent befuzzled onlookers into varying states of disbelief. That these reactions are not always positive is in itself an extremely positive thing... ..Shedding the memories of adolescent bands in one fell swoop, Stuart met former Damned guitarist Kris Dollimore in 2005 after a chance live gig together, an event that set Stuart off into a bewildering few years of near constant solo live performance in all manner of bewildering venues. Whilst honing his live act, Stuart found himself producing Dollimore's first solo album '02/01/1978', later released in November 2006 on Sun Pier Records and distributed through Cargo. The album contained a version of Stuart's own 'The North Kent Post Industrial Hillstomp Blues', a song the nation was treated to hearing on BBC Radio Two throughout April 2007... ..Stuart's debut album, 'A Gallon Of Water Makes A Mile Of Fog', was released in November 2007 on Sun Pier to a wealth of critical acclaim and fired him off into headlining his own shows in alternative cabaret clubs, garage nights, bowling alleys and Swedish festivals. The Guardian excellently described Stuart as a man scaring the 'living daylights out of the assembled crowds with his spooky folk blues' – watching Stuart live is like watching Tom Waits decapitating Howlin' Wolf with a wry smile. Stuart's status as Chatham's shining beacon of hope was confirmed in his follow up album, 'File Under Carnal Knowledge', released through Sun Pier to large roars of approval in February 2009... ..Stuart put together his band The Flat Earth Society during 2009 to expand both the studio and live possibilities. Featuring plenty of brass, plenty of thump and plenty of mud, 'Gin & Bitters' is Stuart's third long player and his most eclectic and magnetic album yet. The eerie blues are still in healthy riposte (see the railway dilemma of 'London' and the effortlessly cynical 'Goodbye and Good Luck'), but have been developed into psychedelic, Doors-esque grooves of Hammond power ('South Sea Blues'), art-a-rockabilly stomps ('If You Say I Am The Devil…') and even Tom Waits fronting The Style Council on the brassy, BNP-bashing 'Essex'. Yes, The Style Council – and it is bloody marvellous. Fans of The Guardian will be pleased to be scared from their living daylights with the inclusion of the psych-nightmare that is 'Now'. You have been warned... ..'Gin & Bitters' was recorded with Jim Riley and The Flat Earth Society in 2009 and will be released through Brigadier Records in July 2010. .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. ..........Try the ..BEST.. ..MySpace Editor.. and ..MySpace Backgrounds.. at ..MySpace.... Hello,How do you do? - RABID SOW REJECT1 year ago
Well now, thanks to those clever people at BANDCAMP.COM, Shelfy & Minty have made it possible for you to enjoy the entire "TALES FROM THE WINGED EYEBALL" album in glorious streamin' high-fidelity S-T-E-R-R-R-R-R-E-E-O-O in the privacy of your own head (It's A Freaky Trip On 'Phones!). If you really like it, then you can HAVE IT FOR NOTHING in any darn digital format that takes yer fancy! Well, I never.
Meanwhile, the resident player on the Rabid Sow MySpace now features four more tracks that didn't quite make it onto the album. Rejects, if you will. Except they're not bad at all.
