MySpace 

The band have been steadily working on their new material throughout 2007-09. The wallpaper here at MySpace shows SOTT standing outside their studio in rural Bedfordshire. As a stop-gap, some unrealeased Tundra material becomes available in July 09 on the compilation album 'Almost the right people' SM005 and the 'Illuminate' EP SM004 (see www.sunsofthetundra.co.uk for details).

The first of two films (below) shows the band playing "Paper Wraps Stone" at the UK Download festival, June 2006. This song is the opening track on the 2004 self-titled album "Suns of the Tundra". The second film shows the band performing their own version of "You Lied" - a song that members of Suns of the Tundra first wrote and performed during the 1990s when they were known as Peach (and which was later covered by Tool on their Salival album).

The first line-up of Peach (or Peach GB in the States) was Simon Oakes, Ben Durling, Rob Havis, Justin Chancellor. When Tool bassist Paul D’Amour decided to quit in 1995, Justin was invited to audition and was offered the position. Peach went into hibernation until Simon and Rob revived the music in 2003, following the unexpected success of the re-release of their first album 'Giving birth to a stone' in the US (on Volcano/Zomba and now Jive). They chose a new name to mark a break with the past - Suns of the Tundra.

Rob shifted to bass duties (his original instrument before he became a drummer) while Andy Prestidge (Mint 400, Cortizone, Winters, now also in Angel Witch) took the drum stool for the self-titled album “Suns of the Tundra”, released in 2004. Some of this material grew out of Simon's half-finished songs from the Peach years, notably the track "Telescopic Misanthropy".

In the most recent line-up of SOTT, Andy Marlow (also ex-Sterling/Peach) now tackles bass duties, following Rob’s decision to "spend more time with his family". Andy co-produces all SOTT recordings and is also bass player for Jadis. Simon has been joined on vocals for several numbers by Laszlo Pallagi, singer with Obiat. Mark Moloney is SOTT's other full-time guitarist. Hanna Pettersson has added saxophone to recent album “Tunguska” (2006). Keith Burstein provides occasional piano for recorded works.

Highlights of the band's career thus far - two cult prog albums not with-standing - include playing with Kino and Red Sparrowes (Isis spin-off). Notable UK festival appearences to date include Downlaod (2006) and Latitude (2009, 2008, 2007, 2006).
