The DYNAMICS was created after the very successfull debut 7 inch of the CURTIS MAYFIELD MOVE ON UP and WHITE STRIPES SEVEN NATION ARMY on BIG SINGLE RDS They released their first LP "VERSION EXCURSIONS" (BIG SINGLE / GROOVEATTACK) collecting stunning covers produced by PATCHWORKS which reached a very wide audience way beyond the reggae scene.
They toured intensely for two years through Europe and in Japan, played in numerous festivals such as Glastonbury, Sudwest Portugal, Reggae Sun Ska, Lovebox, Festineuch, Garorock ...).
PATCHWORKS is replaced by JUN MATSUOKA in August 2009.
They now return in studio for the second album to be released in 2010, first single should be available at big single records in a few weeks now, produced by french reggae production masters in the name of BOST AND BIM
They're also getting ready for a new tour, with some new songs, covers and original and a brand new show.
The Dynamics music is a witness to the influence of American soul on Jamaican music. Their unique sound retraces the connections between soul, reggae and dub, mixing old-school flavours and modern production techniques. The result is deep, dynamic and characterized by strong vocals and an effective stage presence.
MR DAY (singer, instruments, song writer) : He is one of the founders of the Lyon today scene. MR DAY is probably one of the most highly respected soul and deep house French singers. His Influences, like Curtis Mayfield or Smokey Robinson bring a real soulful flavour to the band. Just like Patchworks, he worked with a number of different labels (Rotax FR, Glasgow Udg UK, Guidance US).
STEVIE LEVI (singer, MC, song writer) : Originally from Bristol UK, Stevie recently moved to Lyon France to join the Dynamics. His style would be somewhere between Horace Andy, Marvin Gaye and U Roy, a wide range of influences. He brings to the band his original stage presence, warmth, passion and a rarely seen energy !
MOUNAM (singer, song writer) : Originally from Cameroon, Mounam is a main figure of the Lyon music scene, with a 10 years evolution through all the Afro-American styles (gospel, soul blues and jazz) in europe. Mounam can often be seen on special featurings for Zora Young US, Patchworks, Colorblind, FR or Slovo UK.
FLAB MASTER FLAB (effects & instruments) : From Boston US, Flab describes himself as a musical hobo. From working in recording studios for the last 10 years, he brings a great range of influences to the band and a unique technique of effects. On stage, his vintage equipment feeds the Dynamic sound with a proper timeless dub quality.
