The Frustrations formed in Hobart in mid-1994 when school friends Mike and Julian starting writing songs in Mike's suburban bedroom. Mike had been playing guitar in local noisy combo 50 Million Clowns for several years and had developed an interest in playing the drums. Julian already a solo performer was sick of inner-city poseurs throwing stuff at him while he played, had some songs which suited a louder ensemble format better. They played their first gig at the Brisbane Hotel in September '94. They played regulary around Tasmania, made several journeys to Melbourne and Adelaide, put out cassettes, 7"s and CDs and eventually made the move to Melbourne in 1999. Perhaps the move to the big city wasn't the best thing for the cohesiveness of the band but nevertheless they played semi-regulary, wrote and recorded a new album and then promptly broke up mid-2003.
