"You're a nutter, that sound is muchos disturbing, unsettling. How did you do it, what planet did you find such a sound? O V E R"

people said these things about the laurel tree...

"Meanwhile, the outré laptop electronica of The Laurel Tree and Pixelmechanic created exactly the opposite effect upstairs, demonstrating the diversity of local talent that exists to support an event such as this."
***THE SCOTSMAN - April 2008***

"Headline act The Laurel Tree is a rather unassuming young women form [sic] Edinburgh. I say unassuming, yet nothing would really prepare you for her dis-orientating blend of electronica and found sounds. Handing the controls to the audience, The Laurel Tree never lost contact with the crowd, making her one of the most engaging electronic artists at work in Scotland today. Though the instrumentals were perhaps a little wayward at times, this was an enthralling performance by a talented artist."
***IS THIS MUSIC? - March 2008***

"This time Drouthy Neebors' basement will be playing host to experimental programmer The Laurel Tree, an Edinburgh-based musician who has dabbled in almost everything. Whether behind a piano, a microphone or a guitar, The Laurel Tree is always a force to be reckoned with. This latest foray into the world of computerised composition sees her going as far as she can into new territory and her own quirkily titled brand of toy-tronica. With Wii remotes, gamepads and other toys on stage, and using software she designed, she'll be pushing it as far as it goes."
***THE SKINNY - January 2008***

   About the laurel tree
became a hermit with sheep, cows and fields out the window and once a triple rainbow and a magic bit with an enchanted forest and a river surrounded by flowers and two highland cows and a death slide where i can take you when it’s sunny. i have some songs growing in the windowsill but i have to finish them before i can let you hear because the sun makes me lazy when you can sunbathe naked and there’s no one in sight or run in the fields and i start more than i finish...

i possess the rare ability to appear increasingly more youthful as i grow old, thus my true age can only be calculated by cutting me open and counting the rings.

i’m doing a masters in digital composition and performance. it’s wonderful although it’s ruining my complexion!

THIS IS A SCREENSHOT OF MY LATEST MUSICAL CREATION, A LITTLE BOX OF JOY THAT MAKES SOME NICE AND DELICIOUSLY NASTY SOUNDS AS YOU CAN HEAR IN GRANNY’S GARDEN!!!

I can count on my left fore-finger the number of people who rock my mind in electronica. That would be one and that one is you.

The first two pieces (potsdam calling) and (extemporation): I'm in a barn looking at a true and transparent reflection and these melodies turn the keys and knobs of these analog perceived instruments as if touching them for the first time.

Therefore, I hand you the presigious Title in this Kingdom...

ROCK GIRL. For she is the gentle feather that shapes these rocks over time.

Watch. Amazing.

Rock our minds.

hello. we like your sound too! hooray!

I think you'd get on with Sam. he's always on about Schrodinger's cat and whether you can change something's essential makeup by perceiving it. I don't know what he's talking about, but you probably will. Let's do a gig.
