Valentine’s Day, 2006, Jake discovered a wonderful thing.
He found wizard rock. Something that was a mix of his two greatest passions: guitar and Harry Potter was something Jake had to be involved in. All he needed was a singer. At first he tried a band with his friend Brett, forming the Delores’ Detention Regulars. While they did actually make a song or two, the motivation to play dwindled and Jake found himself again without a band. After a disappointing search for HP fans in the surrounding area, Jake felt his wizard rocking days were over. That was, until he looked down the hall to his sister, Madison.
One night after rewriting his first song, The Burrow, Jake tried out playing and singing with his sister, noticing how good they sounded together. After several trial audiences, mostly including their dad and others, Jake and Maddy found they had a style that people who didn’t know anything about HP could appreciate. This made Jake’s dream swell with life once more, and they have been playing ever since. The Nifflers, Jake and Madison’s creation, plays music not from a niffler’s point of view, but about various things in the series they find entertaining. At least, when Madison can move her lazy butt to practice.
Thank you for having music recorded! I was listening to 'Made to be a Gryffindor' on my walkman (yes I still have one of those things) and I hit the volume too high. anwyay some people passed by and asked what I was listenign to, it was kinda neat. I told them Wizard Rock and after a bit of talking they got interested. So with the help of the Nifflers I am converting my school! Soon Wrock will overtake the world!
I hope you are still enjoying my debut full-length double-disc EP, Death to Humans. If you have any friends who need a copy, I still have like 198 of them in my closet. Tell them to order it from my Myspace. Each copy comes with free toast.
I know a lot of wizards are really into this idea of making these charity records. I have even been asked to contribute to a few of them myself. That's all well and good, but I don't get what the big deal is about reading. Why do all these kids need to read so much? Don't they have YouTube?
Anyway, I've decided to go ahead and make my own charity compilation that will benefit squids. Yes, that's right, SQUIDS! Humans have brought too much death and destruction to this world for me to continue propping them up with such philanthropic endeavours.
I am now soliciting contributions to this compilation album. The compilation is entitled:
A Tribute to the Giant Squidstravaganza
If you or anyone you know wants to contribute a song, please email me (giantsquidrocks@yahoo.com). The song does not need to be by or about wizards. Instead, it should be either by or about me. In other words, it would be OK for you to cover one of my songs, and it would also be OK for you to write your own song about how awesome I am. It would NOT be OK for you to cover someone else's song, unless that song was about me. It is also NOT OK to write songs about stuff I don't care about, i.e, girls you want to make out with, stupid Hogwarts teen drama, and/or Twilight (whatever that is).
Proceeds from the sales of A Tribute to the Giant Squidstravaganza will benefit the Architeuthis Youth Center of Rapid City. This is a really great cause and I'm hoping we can raise a bunch of money to help Rapid City continue to provide a safe place for at-risk young squids to make a positive impact in their community.
Hi guys, I was wondering if you could give me and my friends some advice. We are trying to start a wizard rock band but have no idea where to start. Do you have any suggestions on how to get started?
