Sounds Like
Jangly guitars, boy/girl vocal harmonies, lovelorn, sometimes psychedelic, pop in the sense that it's catchy. A little bit crunchy, a little bit rock and roll.
The Pseudo Dates from Denver, Colorado formed in the fall of 2007 as a three-piece consisting of singer/guitarist Nathan Brasil, singer/bassist Suzi Allegra and drummer John Fate. The band and its music came together quickly and in the spring of 2008, The Pseudo Dates independently released its debut EP, Because We Love You. That record captured the spare, yet exuberant, pop confection that was the trio’s specialty in the beginning. A tour of California and the Pacific Northwest followed including an appearance on KPSU in Portland, Oregon.
Subsequent to that first tour, The Pseudos expanded on the solid pop rock foundation they had established for themselves by incorporating expansive atmospheres and layered dynamics. The result has been a kaleidoscopic tapestry of sounds unheard on previous efforts. This development of the band’s core sound became fully realized with the addition of Taylor Rice on vocals and guitar in the fall of 2008.
400 Some Odd Songs in 400 Some Odd Nights, the band’s upcoming spring 2009 sophomore release, is comprised of psychedelically tinged, yet tightly crafted, rock songs. Each track eloquently speaks to the wishes, heartbreaks and daydreams of anyone who has dared to entertain the romantic notion that life isn’t a series of disappointments. With an expanded tour itinerary that includes California, the Pacific Northwest as well as the American Southwest, The Pseudo Dates will bring its energetic and affecting live show to a wider audience.
