Known for their intensity in both their music and live shows Boston based experimental death metal band The Summoned is being considered as fore-runners in the New England metal scene. They've been referred to such bands as Between The Buried and Me, The Faceless and Black Dahlia Murder but that doesn't stop them from experimenting with their sound but maintaining the intensity they're most known for. With Steve Thompson on Vocals, Jake Kelleher and Shaun Murphy on Guitars, Greg Mann on Bass, and Sam Hang on Drums The Summoned believes they've collectively brought out all their seperate influences to create their own vision of experimental death metal.
In a span of two years The Summoned has completed two east coast tours, played shows in fifteen states and has had the honor of opening for national acts such as The Faceless, Dying Fetus, Beneath The Massacre, Through The Eyes of the Dead, Carnifex, Suffokate, Blindwitness, The Demonstration & Killwhitneydead.
The release of their 2009 demo recorded in May over a period of three days with Berkley School of Music student Fred Sladkey, The Summoned believes this is their best work to date. With two east cost tours, an EP release, a demo release, endorsements, opening for national acts as well as radio air play under their belt The Summoned has proven that their hard work with song writing and live shows strikes a nerve. Praised by their peers and highly acclaimed responses from fans The Summoned has no intentions of slowing down but picking up the pace to maintain their status of fore-runners in the New England metal scene.
The Summoned is amazing listen to them or you will be killed by an "accidental" blow to the head with a 2x4. The new demo is a very different response to Harvest. The three song demo doesn't let up, even the soft mellow song is heavy as fuck. Jake and Shaun work perfectly together as a mean guitar duo with Shaun shredding the fuck out of solos and Jake keeping a lock down on the Rhythm, Even though there is no bassist Shaun did a great job at laying down all the bass tracks as well. Then there is Sam his drums on this Demo are the same as always, Crushingly awesome full of blast beats, Cymbal fills, and even his breakdown beats (which are sparingly used) are more advanced then most of the bands out on the market these days. Last but not least there is Steve, His vocals on this Demo have improved 10000000000 Fold they just sound more worked on AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO BREEING THANK THE LORD!!! To Conclude The Summoned are always growing whether it be as a live band or in the studio they always have something new to bring to the table, and this Demo proves they are like none of the bands around. - Phelan Ritchie
The Summoned, band American of folto the underbrush American, attempts in death metal of last given over generation to progressive passages with technical executions of good caratura and parts in blast ficcanti.
The new one demo composed from three pieces is a step clearly in ahead regarding ep “the Harvest” that showed a formation able but still lacking in outlets. The peculiarities that have had obvious development are: in primis the voice of deeper and now sturdy Steve and also in the screammate parts, the coupled one of Shaun/Linda axes that it has begun to construct of the riff less fine to if same thinking more to a choral job that to I sfoggio of technique what that famous above all in “Dreaming In 2D”. What there was of valid is remained instead constant, also with the absence of the bassista replaced dearly from Shaun that it has known however to trace of the low lines that they are aligned to the drumming dynamic and stilisticamente appreciable of Sam. It is the test that the boys possess the characteristics in order to seriously think to a full-lenght that he would crown the efforts sin now made. - Gabriele / Aristocrazia(Translated from Italian)

For a band that doesn't really need to prove themselves in the New England metal scene, The Summoned by far, has. The new demo is some of the most intense music this band has ever written. With the addition of Jake "Linda" Kelleher on guitar for these recordings, you can totally tell this band has become insanely tight. Steve Thompson's vocals have grown to a thunderous roar and an ear piercing shriek. With Greg "Man" Mann back on the bass, this bands live show is an intense and very involved experience. Sam Hang is just a monster on the kit. Shaun Murphy is a true showman on stage. This band recreates their CD live and do an amazing job. If you haven't picked up their shit, or seen them live..You're fucking retarded. - Mykel Boisvert/Spiderbiteradio.com
