Through Darkness is a portuguese Extreme/Melodic Death Metal band.Formed in the summer of 2006 by Bruno "Shark" Pereira (Vocals;lyrical concepts)and Élvio Rodrigues (Guitars;drum programming;narratives & flute),the band has a complex and very unique sound,with influences raging from genres as diverse as Death Metal,Viking/Folk Metal and Ambient/Atmospheric Music.Every track is unique in its own way,with brutality contrasting with sorrowful melodies and folkish acoustic guitars.
Our debut EP "A Journey Through Darkness" was released in 2008.This EP is divided in two parts.The first one ( tracks 1-4 )
is based on personal struggles and consists of 1 Introduction,2 Tracks and a Finale.
The second part ( tracks 5-8 ) is inspired by finnish mythology,with
excerpts taken from the Kalevala-The national epic of Finland.Like the first part of the EP,the second consists of 1 Introduction,2 Tracks and a Finale.
Instrumentally,each track is unique in its own way,but everyone can expect originality,creativity and unique Extreme yet Melodic Metal.
We are already composing the songs for our debut full-lenght, that will be titled "...and then,hope was nothing more than a fragile,distant memory". There will be no influences from mythology this time, all the lyrics are already written ( expect 7,maybe 8 tracks ), and they are mostly about despair and...shit.
