Ain't no band, just me. Though Scott Chase has accompanied me through the years, he also has other things he's about. I appreciate our shared experiences through the years. He produced and had a definite influence most of my recordings. He's hell on a washboard, the lacquer bucket, the saw, the wrenches, mouth harp, and whatever else he might find, pick up on his way to the gig. A wide-open mind all kinds of music and "possibilities of music" a perfectly laid back foil to my somewhat similar attitude toward how I hear where a song might go or might could get away with that wonderful flash a song doesn't haven't to be like this, resolve this, end like this all the time, and he's open all that too; plus he's one of them thick and thin friends years come and go it all changes some ways, some ways it has to, our lives evolve into families, varying cicumstances; some friends the bond holds, the link whatever.I admire and respect Scott way beyond the music. And the music would be enough on its own.
Have enjoyed the presence Tommy Goldsmith backing me many shows/recordings through the years on guitar, mandolin and vocals;
and whenever she is available both live and in the studio, Tomi Lunsford has added an ethereal voice to the unkempt universe the ghostly inhabitants my "old, weird America," and I appreciate the incredible genius they both have brought to my efforts. I dare say my sound and life would be a bit paler without the inspiration both have brought me.
winnipeg? MANITOBA? yow. bring back some moose jerky. depending on when you're leaving, we may be able to connect during that week before you go....or the week after, let me know what works for you.
Well hell, that's understandable. Hopefully we'll run into you out that road sometime in the near future. We got an album you can download for free on our myspace page if you want something to listen to on the way to Winnipeg.
Im not exactly sure what is up with the buying pets!! I havent gotten any bugs yet! Who knows!!
That is exciting that you will be going to Canada!! Layin off the booze is a good thing!! I have been just doing the same ol thing! Working, coming home and spending time with my hubby and my little man, and that is about it! Life is good though!
Couple weeks ago you sent a thoughtful and encouraging response to my friend request, which was much appreciated and part of my inspiration to finally post a damn song on my music page (which myspace took 3 weeks to "process" for some reason).
Man I miss seeing you, and am coming through that way this coming weekend--though probably in the middle of the night--on a wicked long run from Grapevine, TX to Jersey City, NJ.
Thanks so much for coming down to Columbia. It was such a pleasure to meet you and to get to play two shows with you. I enjoyed both of your shows here in SC. Two magical nights of real music. Let us play some more real music together soon!
i was obsessed with nuns when i was about nine years old and inparticular the flying nun. i used to buy these huge blocks of grape gum the kind that make you foam at the mouth just because they had flying nun trading cards in them.another thing i devised was to dress up like a nun with just a few simple steps. i would lock the bathroom door and take a white undershirt and put my face through where the head hole is. so it surrounded my whole face. i would take the arms which were located near my ears and tie them together behind my head. then i would top it off with a white bath towel veil. i would then try to look kind.
Hey ho there Tom. I think most artists and musicians eventually end up on MySpace. It's the modern age, eh? I've really enjoyed listening to your music tonight.
tom...great to meet up here on the techno hiway...enjoying your tunes and writings!!!..you look very familiar--we might of crossed up before...i was in Nasville allthrough the 90's...not as a player and writer, but doing everything else there(stage hand, road crew,loading trucks,film and tape,acting,standup,clowning, and bartending at the old Gerst Haus)...hope to get back to town at somepoint, say hey and trade tales and tunes...soon...twh
Thanks for the big compliment! of course you are an inspiration to both of us... i did come back, but i think you had finished. i would love to play a show with you and justin again sometime. i think the basement would be good. it would be great to have the silver jews play also so we could recreate that other night, but in a better way. talk soon and happy celebrations of new year!
Hope all is well with you...just worked with Steve-o for the week, so been wondering.
I'm thinking of going to see Malcolm Holcombe in Gastonia on the 21st, then may come your way after . . .you playing anywhere that weekend before the holiday? Be awful nice to see you. . .

It's grey and cold outside. I'm making waffles. I just popped in a dusty copy of 'Inside These Walls'.... and it fits perfectly. I had to run over and rewind 'Received a Letter' three times. Almost forgot about that one. Thanks for that, Tom.
love this open a new window feature that allows you to travel to other sites while listening to all the music on one.at one point i was listening to you while reading about phil lee and at the same time in the soft distance a television was delivering theories on spontanious human combustion.charmed i'm sure. thanks for sending music. i won't have my mitts on mine until i get to atlanta a week from now. i can't wait to strap you onto my ears and head out on a walking to get lost. rb
