When you ask someone what type of music they listen to, the answer is
most often, "I listen to everything". You then go over to their apartment or
peruse their IPOD to find a bland collection that deviates little from a
single genre. When you ask a band what type of music they play, you
invariably get a confused look and an awkward reply along the lines of,
"Well... it's really hard to describe". Of course, then you hear them and you
giggle at how untrue that sentence was. Tub Ring may actually have a
legitimate reason to say both, but won't. Tub Ring is a tornado of genres
mixing punk, classical, surf, a-capella, hard-core, pop, and whatever else
crosses their path into one cohesive blend of rock.
Forging this sound in 2001, Tub Ring has been a force of nature in the
left-of-center world of music, building momentum and inertia with every day
that passes. The band's first album of avant-garde pop, Drake Equation, was
produced by Mr. Bungle's Trey Spruance. Since, Tub Ring has released a total
of 3 albums and a DVD/B-Side double pack.
With each album charting into double digits on the CMJ Top 200, Tub Ring's
music has also been featured on Fox Sports, Xbox 360's "Amp Snow Boarder 3",
various MTV/MTV2 programs, Spike and Mike's Twisted Animation films, and
several Mt. Dew commercials. Most recently, Tub Ring played live in the TRL
room on MTV2, and was featured in the MTV reality based contest show "Dew
Circuit Breakout".
Tub Ring has created an enormous underground market with their bizarre genre
of spazzed pop rock, hard work, non-stop touring, and inventive songwriting. Clocking in at over 150 shows per year from 2001 to 2008 throughout
North America, Europe and Japan, there are few bands that can match Tub Ring's
determination and commitment to music. Touring partners include Mindless Self
Indulgence, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Estradasphere, Foxy Shazam, Kill Hannah,
The Birthday Massacre, Dog Fashion Disco, Karate High School, and many more.

"In this day in age, you've got to respect a band that throws caution to the wind and lives to take chances musically, and ‘The Great Filter' shows that Tub Ring certainlyqualify in the whackoid rock sweepstakes - ALL MUSIC GUIDE
"Although Tub Ring approaches their fourth album with the wildly unfocused enthusiasm of ADD-riddled kids, the Chicago band has been around long enough to know just when to exercise some self-discipline here and there... The Great Filter has hooks aplenty." - DECIBEL
"Energetic to the core! TUB RING have flawlessly merged manic energy and pop melodies with an abundant amount of charisma. Don't miss them live!" - UNRESTRAINED!
"...continually evolving and changing...TUB RING's sound is always difficult to pinpoint..." - OUTBURN
"...animated and energetic...a cool hyrbid of show tunes and pop rock..." - EXCLAIM
Sure, lots of underground bands attempt noisy stylistic collages at breakneck tempos. But few manage to inject as much melody as Tub Ring. - Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun Times
They definitely are the most experimental punk band of all time. - Cash Box Magazine
This is genuinely catchy music...then again HIV is catchy...Tub Ring is AIDS. - Global Domination

Whoa, Creature Feature's San Francisco date is with you guys as well?

Maybe I can... it IS on a Sunday... but then there's the problem of getting back to Oregon on Monday. :/
Well, hopefully I'll see you there (or perhaps you'll post a date the next day somewhere that's within 2 hours of where I live[Ashland/Medford, the area where Bruce Campbell lives], then I can see you on my birthday :D )
toledo show was amazing. i went to the cleveland show weeks ago because there wasnt a toledo show, and then there was! i got to see you twice and give you close to $100 of my american dollars. see you when you come back around with creature feature and birthday massacre...and if you make new shirts, i will buy them. or maybe start selling those tub ring towels. i want one.
Anyway, thanks for always making an Ohio stop. I had such a fantastic time that it resulted in me puking on the side of the highway TWICE on the way home today. Mm, sexy. I don't puke. Ever, but apparently you have some sort of superior mystical vomit causing effect. I mean that in the sweetest way possible.
Totally worth it though. Hopefully I at least horrified some children passing by.
