Ubuv is pronounced like the word above. It stands for Universal Beats Universal Vibe. The group began with multi-instrumentalist/producer Rama and Deep Rooted's DJ Artistic collaborating and writing together. Weaving live sitar, Chinese erhu and guitar over breakbeat, hip hop, dubstep and rock, Ubuv have forged a sound all their own. The live shows feature the drums of Justin Dehart (Doctor Echo) and percussionist Joe Horne, KC3P0 on the electronics, Rama on sitar, erhu, percussion and the beautiful dancing of Zulema and Sabrina. Sonically weaving world music grooves and sounds with urban glitch hop and breaks, Ubuv prides themselves on their live shows. Influences range from Tipper to Ravi Shankar to Public Enemy to Bassnectar to classical. A typical Ubuv performance will feature a variety of genres from breaks to hip hop to dubstep to funk, and the dancing on stage is not to be missed! Zulema combines light dancing, with groovy gogo style moves and is sure to capture your attention with her spirit and heart. Sabrina offers a variety of neo-tribal belly dancing styles complete with props and a snake and will command your optical senses with her elegant maneuvers. Ubuv pounds the dance floor with a variety of psychedelic bass pumping urban grooves layered with next century sitar sounds and melodies from outer space. The new cd titled, "Ubuv" is out now!
