"It’s been said many times and many places that freedom is a road seldom traveled by the multitudes. So we would like to invite each of you to come travel with us, and perhaps you will see a side of life that you have never seen before."
-The Bar-Kays
L O V E W O R L D begins as a spark, a vision shared by seven minds. We gather
together and pour our sweat, love, and differences into this idea,
night after night, month after month, year after year, until at last we have come upon a
collective creation that is beyond any of us, beyond even
the sum of us - a song that could only have been born through the continual cooperation
of these seven individuals looking past our own selves and
fighting for the good of the group.
L O V E W O R L D is what we glimpse when we
come together at a rock show to share what has been created,
each of us pouring our hearts into this common purpose, and something beyond us takes
over. Spontaneously struck by a chord or a moment of
collective energy, someone who has never danced before begins moving to the music.
After a moment of disbelief, others catch on, doubt dissipates,
and fear is disarmed by fun. A warm sonic invitation becomes a call to action as more
bodies start moving together to the same beat, more voices join
the same chorus, and the collective temperature rises. In a single moment, all the hands
in the place fly up into the air, and suddenly all these
individuals who, moments prior, had seemingly nothing in common with one another, are
moved together into unified action, many bodies become one
body, and we all move together.
L O V E W O R L D is what happens when this spirit of unity moves out beyond the
walls of the club, into the streets and into the homes, infecting
hearts with hope, with the ability to see past the minuscule differences between us and
focus on what makes us all human together - life, breath,
choice, the desire to love and be loved. Music alone won't save the world, but it does
give us evidence that we can come together as one heart and
one body, moving and dreaming and believing together. And because we've shared these
experiences, we are given courage to believe that it will only
grow from here. So we choose to hope, because we've seen it work, we choose to dance,
because it's fun and good for you, and we choose to love,
because there is nothing greater. We invite you to glimpse L O V E W O R L D for
yourself, and join us if you feel it. It might be more fun than
anything else you've tried...
When you hear the sound of the kick drum pound
and feel it resound with the beat of your heart,
this means you have found the gate to the state,
the state of the heart where love reigns supreme,
a state into which every child is born.
This is no unreal land, but the most real, man!
So come take my hand, come follow me
Into the land of U.S.E...
We welcome you to L O V E W O R L D: United State of Everything.
Love,
U.S.E
SPIN magazine says of LOVEWORLD (September 2009 issue): 8/10 stars; "Conjuring the
communal spirits of both club music and underground rock, this seven-piece Seattle act
pack their emphatically nonautomated Europop with arena-rock guitars, giddy girlie
vocals, and vocoders set to stun. Rewriting the rainbow positivity of old Philly soul
anthems with an English-as-second-language earnestness that amplifies their
band-of-outsiders bliss, these atypical party people ride a love train that doesn’t stop
chugging until the final track."
Fluxblog says: "Are there colorful synths and disco beats, kinda like a rock band
version of Daft Punk? Check. Is there a hook sung through a vocoder? You got it, bro!
Got any ultra-clean skyscraper-sized rhythm guitar riffs? But of course! Is the chorus
sung by a girl with an assertive, yet super-sweet voice? Yes! Yes! Yes! Do the lyrics
imagine a utopia full of dancing and limitless joy? Dude, it’s U.S.E.! Do you even need
to ask?"
Says Rolling Stone, "The West Coast beat masters in United State of Electronica have
what you need building giddy techno smashes out of vocoder voices, disco beats, stings
and Avalanches style soul sample."
