are so many they are hard to vocalize. life, love, nature, people, places, politics, friends, family, freakshows, walmart :( Fast Eddie :), digeradoo's, digeradont's, drums, Harmony Park, Rivers, lakes, streams, thoughts, prayers, dreams, hope, suffering, sorrow, yesterday, today, and tomorrow, we are all (even you) constantly influenced by everything around us, present and past, good and bad, and I believe that is what Useful Jenkins is all about.
Sounds Like
a celebration of jam, bluegrass, reggae, and folk. High energy, tribal percussion, and delicious kazoo solos.
Useful Jenkins was created from friends jamming around campfires. Pat and Lucas had been playing guitar together off and on since 2004, never playing shows, just some open mics, and campfires. In 2006, Josh came along and brought his drum to some campfires. It wasn't long before he was doing open mics with us and we had written our first few songs. Meanwhile, in the fall of 2006, Travis snuck in through the backdoor and surprised the hell out of all of us. We had stumbled upon a fairly unique sound, and wanted to keep it rolling, so we asked our good friend Ryan to play some bass for us.
The 5 of us have been Useful now for just under a year, and if you still have no idea what Useful Jenkins is, you'll have to ask us at a show. :)

I just wanted to stop by to say hello and give you a little update on what Blood Root Mother is up to! We will be recording an EP of new music in August, and we recently finished recording a live DVD. The DVD is currently unreleased and I actually just saw it for the first time a few days ago. It features the last two performances with Tony Ellis still alive, and some footage from the tribute show we played on the night of his funeral.
There are some cool covers, as well as some NEW music that will be on our upcoming EP. We're very excited about the new music and we'd like to share a sneak peak with you. Here's a link to the video for a new tune called Run Bobby Run:
