VARSOVIE est formé en 2005, à Grenoble, par Arnault Destal (textes, batterie, arrangements) et Grégory Cathérina (musiques, guitares, voix), tous deux issus de la scène underground française (Forbidden Site).
Rejoint par Thibault Chapelat à la basse, le groupe enregistre son premier EP 5 titres NEUF MILLIMETRES (sold-out) début 2006, dans un registre rock / post-punk.
A l’image de cette capitale insurgée parmi les ruines, crises historiques et personnelles se conjuguent à travers des textes et des morceaux marqués par une tradition expressionniste et décadente.
En juillet 2006 Yan Four intègre les rangs au poste de bassiste.
Le groupe perfectionne son style sur scène et développe un jeu radical et incisif.
VARSOVIE écume les salles de concert pour une soixantaine de dates en France et en Europe.
Fin 2008, VARSOVIE récidive et enregistre 11 nouveaux titres au Drudenhaus Studio à Nantes.
L’album ETAT CIVIL verra le jour le 14 décembre 2009, disponible sur INFRASTITION RECORDS.
VARSOVIE emerged in 2005, in Grenoble (France), by the creative output of Arnault Destal (lyrics, drums, arrangements) and Grégory Cathérina (music, vocals, guitars) - both ingrained figures of the French underground scene. (Forbidden Site)
Joined by Thibault Chapelat as bassist, the band records a first 5 songs EP called “NEUF MILLIMETRES” (sold-out) in 2006, in a dark-rock / post-punk style.
In the image of this capital (Warsaw) that, in the middle of the apocalypse, fought on, area by area, barricade by barricade, historic and personal crisis gather towards an effervescent, radical, melancholic and raw musical tradition, supported by Symbolist, Decadent and Expressionist French lyrics.
In July 2006 Yan Four joins the band as bassist.
VARSOVIE brings all of this energy and passion together on stage, radical and effervescent.
The band plays about sixty concerts in Europe.
End 2008, VARSOVIE records 11 new songs at Drudenhaus Studio (Nantes).
The album ETAT CIVIL will be available on December 14. 2009 on INFRASTITION RECORDS.
