Verona Red is:
Energizing rock and roll that gets people singing, dancing, drinking, and laid. With a sound that's authentic, refreshing, and upbeat, and a live show that's insulting, exciting and memorable, Verona Red successfully brings the good times.
As part of Chicago's live music scene for three years now, Verona Red’s rock and roll is dependably energetic and full of dancing. Filled with bass-drum climbing, floor grinding, instrument swapping and insults to your mother, their live show never fails to arouse a crowd.
After releasing their first album, an eight-song EP called Ever and After the End in October 2005, Verona Red debuted their first full length album, Side Effects, to a full-house at Chicago’s Double Door in November, 2008.
Synth beats loiter across Side Effects, which highlights Verona Red’s ability to combine distorted blues-saturated vocals, provocative guitar riffs and boisterous sing-alongs into a sexy and undeniable rock and roll sound.
Since its release, “Side Effects” has gotten praise from the industry:
..
"Well-written, driving indie rock that is almost as dancey as it is smart. In a world where most bands want to sound like some other stagnant band, this is refreshing." – John Benetti (Talent Buyer, Housecall Entertainment,
Booking for Subterranean and Beat Kitchen in Chicago, IL)
“Rock that genuinely warrants a hearty grassroots fan base… a winning combination of saloon sing-along and driving pop with a refreshing shadowy heart.” – Jeff Pizek (The Daily Herald)
“It’s rare to get actual twists and turns in indie rock these days (other than the contrived pre-determined ones of twisty turny-core bands), so hearing this band shift gears between hard, slinky, bouncy, ominous, rootsy, and points in between is refreshing.” – Roctober Magazine
“There is a high octane intensity that is physically undeniable in Verona Red’s new wave explication. But, the kicker would have to be their ability to blend musical crafts without having created a noticeably biased opinion of what good time rock and roll should sound like.” – Ron Trembath (Fensepost.com)
“In essence, Verona Red is carving a niche within the alternative rock genre with this new album. This is the album to add to your 2008 collection.” – Southside (Fearless Radio)
“Red Hot Kaiser Killers! … They have something original because they sound like a combination of styles that shouldn't really work but somehow does.” - Liz (The Reality Podcast)
“Dancing music! I bopped from one end of the house to the other when Hesitations and Clichés started blasting.”
– Sophie (The Reality Podcast)
“The vocals are brilliant; Crash Test Dummies on speed? I love the sound. I love the simplicity - and can appreciate how much effort goes in to making something sound simple.” - Brennig (The Realty Podcast)
