"Over-strong coffee, microwaved macaroni and cold PBR enfused gentle rock goodness. Honest songs strummed with hush delicacy. Music that'll bring you to a place stripped barren of everything but free emotion. Like a long ago bike ride you took where the temperature was just right and you daringly looked up to the skies and kept your eyes trained on the clouds above. The world whizzing by, the wind in your ears. Thrilling, beautiful." -Jeff Blinder, Spazzatorium Galleria (Greenville, NC)
“A high energy band performing music ranging from psychedelic-rock, to folk, garage and surf-influenced punk tunes. Where the Buffalo Roamed toured throughout the Southeast after recording their first full-length studio album in March 2009. Their new CD, “A Wolf In The Works” is set for release in early 2010 on their own homespun Afraid of the Bear music label.” - Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)
"I was listening to your cd the other day when a fire truck came screaming around the bend, tellin me
THE BUFFALO ARE COMING " -Dup Crosson (Saint Solitude! in Asheville,NC)
"Music that can be delicately finger-plucked one minute then move into abrupt synthed-out abstracts the next. Strummed lo-fi electronic fuzz tinged numbers with a special kind of nostalgia. Scary good!" -J. Blinder again (god, I love his descriptions!)
"i thought you might like to hear this- i was driving yesterday, and the traffic on the highway was stopped. the traffic, consisting of 3 cars including the one i was in, had stopped because there was a herd of bison in the road. badass." -Jon Crocker
"Dude, I don't know why people try to constantly reinvent the rock
wheel with every song. In my book, there are things about rock music
that are fucking awesome, and don't need fixing. It's totally cool to
try new things and add new elements and experiment, but it's also
important to know your roots. You know what I'm saying???" -Gavin Hart (Asheville,NC)
"Please take note of the shape of Corbie's head. It is a masterpiece." -J. Ward, Irata / Pig8Pig Studios (Greensboro, NC)
"You just killed Christmas for a house full of retarded orphans!" -C. Hill
"
a man trapped in PJ Harvey's body, fighting not only to get out but just as hard to stay in...
a sonar pulse reflecting the desert, a submarine in search of higher ground, and a cosmic tsunami walk into a bar...
the solemn march of the disaffected schizophrenic, in search of the pills that hold the key to his peace, all the while plodding the wrong direction home... a first time, half-remembered, an 8-bit US maple reconfigured for trepanning and baptisms...
alan moore's career, but backwards." -Chance, Grandmother Longlegs
"Where the Buffalo Roamed are a creative and adventurous mine field. Are they improvising or are we? Each show has the potential to be an avant garde display of wit or like watching crayons melt into each other. Not only are these guys masters of their instruments for their cause but they were probably in drama class in high school. If i had a bar mitzvah they'd be my kinda band, but i haven't had one and wont, so they played at my skate shop instead. It was a great evening of live music, toy guns, broken strings, and skateboarding. Nothing short of professional and logical at the same time. WtBR are welcome at my venue any time." -Alan, Sideproject Skateshop (Charlotte, NC)
1981 – Just down the hall from the party of the century, I was born to moderate applause. A dark haired man in the room breathed cigar smoke in my face and wheezed “Welcome to the world, kid.”
Yeah man charlotte is a little bit better than over here. i just cant drive for a while because north carolina requires you to be passing 3 out of 4 classes in school for a year straight or they take your permit away, and got mine taken haha.
That's good man, glad to hear it. Well pretty bad over here actually, and yes it's a shame about the shop since it's closed i havent been in the right mind, skate scene is dead now and it's this town isnt the same.
But other than that just doing my school stuff and gettting it out the way, not much of anything else
Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!
