Gordon Coutts is a young upcoming DJ / producer from Co.Down, Northern Ireland, and recently has built up a reputation as being one of the most promising DJs to emerge from the country in the past few years.
He has played in some of Nothern Ireland’s top venues over the past few years, such as Dungannon’s Matrix superclub, Lost;Belfast, Club Soi;Portrush and Thompsons;Belfast amongst many others, along with playing for the mighty GODSKITCHEN in Birmingham. He has played at the biggest dance music festival in the country, Planet Love, he has played numerous guest mixes on the countries top radio shows, and recently he has been appearing on lineups alongside names such as Fergie, Scot Project, Rob Tissera, Kutski, Matt Hardwick, Jupiter Ace, Graham Gold, Public Domain, Rachel Auburn, Shan, Col Hamilton, Robbie Nelson, Gleave Dobbin and Chris Davis to name but a few. His recent productions have also been making a substantial impact on the trance scene, with plays from some of the world’s top DJs.
Gordon has been DJing since 1998, making his first break shortly after, playing a number of guest mixes on local radio stations and playing at various local venues, before landing his first weekly residency at the Knightsbridge in Newtownards. From there he moved onto a number of other residencies, as well as playing his first foreign gigs in Faliraki, Greece, before moving on to co-promoting the 'Replay' club night in Bangor, which ran successfully for a year and a half, attracting guests such as Robbie Nelson, Gleave Dobbin, Chris Davis and Modelle.
This signalled a dramatic rise in Gordon’s profile, with gigs at many other venues around the country, as well as providing several guest mixes for other local radio stations and signing for online radio station 'Pure Adrenaline Radio'.
In 2005 Gordon played at Ireland’s largest music festival, Planet Love, lining up alongside many of the world’s top DJs and artists. Gordon closed off a fantastic year playing at Sin, Belfast on New Years Eve, alongside Mark Sherry and Rachel Auburn and was selected as Thompsons 'HUSTLE DJ OF THE YEAR 2005'.
In 2006 Gordon continued this success, with a massive gig playing for GODSKITCHEN, at their Air superclub in Bimingham, as part of an all Irish DJ lineup for a St.Patricks weekend special, alongside Fergie, Col Hamilton, Phil Kieran and Jupiter Ace, along with regular gigs all around the country, regular guest slots on Pete Snodden's 'Source' show on Cool FM live from the Odyssey Pavilion, and a guest mix and interview with Riley & Durrant on their 'NuBreed' show on Galaxy FM from Leeds. Gordon was also nominated as 'BEST UP & COMING TALENT' in the Northern Ireland Dance Music Awards 2006, and at the beginning of 2007 he was selected as the winner of a nationwide DJ competition to play in Dublin, as well as featuring in the ‘Raw Talent’ section of iDJ magazine and playing guest mixes on radio stations in Australia and Gran Canaria. 2007 also saw Gordon hit the White Isle of Ibiza with a string of gigs, as well as seeing his first releases on Selecta Recordings. These gained massive support and plays from some of the world’s top DJs, such as Eddie Halliwell (on his Radio 1 show), Ferry Corsten, Matt Darey, Krzysztof Chochlow, Lee Haslam, Les Hemstock, Ernesto vs Bastian and K90 amongst others.
With future dates lining up all around Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, as well as a return to Ibiza in the summer, and more tracks to be released shortly, Gordon Coutts will certainly be a name to watch out for in the future.
