Myspace Backgrounds
The Flats are an Ottawa Ontario, Chelsea Quebec, based indie rock band. Roots-
influenced music with 1960's pop sensibilities, rock and roll.
The Flats began in the fall of 2007 when founder Greg Brayford "aka Greggy B"
was looking to add a band sound to the current songs he was writing. He asked 2 former band mates from his old band "Belfast Cowboys" and long time friends
Mike Peterson and Matthew Young to join on Bass and Drums.
The trio worked on the songs and recorded 4 of them in Dec 07- Jan 08 with
another former bandmate, Andrew G. Long producing.
As 2008 was unfolding, an old friend from the Toronto music Scene Rob
Commins, came along to play mandolin and banjo.
Mitch Pariseau (formerly of Hennessey) was yet another former Belfast Cowboy
who showed up to a practice one night with his many guitars and joined the band.
Spring 2008, drummer Steve Jurgutis (formerly of Everender) joined to play
percussion and assorted beats.
With many influences from sixties rock n' roll to The Mescalaros, to Elliot Smith, to
garage rock, to Sloan, more UK than USA from the Great White North.
Howdy, Greg. Good to run into you on MySpace. "Nothing at all" is a fantastic song - great sound. Hey, I don't know if you recall it from our mutual Bronson and Clemow days, but I still have the "A-Hemp" licence plate. Different car, though - shame.
Hey, great job last night guys. I really enjoyed the show and the tunes. Let me know when you get an ep together. Actually, you should probably let more people than me know, just makes more business sense.
Hey, thanks for being my friend. I go to school with Matthew and he showed me your site a few days ago. Sounds really good guys, and I'll definitely see you at Zaphod's on the 30th.
The new songs sounds great! Super cool harmony on the line "When you were still mine" in Good Times (and throughout too, of course!). All the best! Should be back in December for a bit, I'll drop by the shop again.
Hey man, one more thing, might be moving back to Toronto in the new year for music and game design. we have to hook up. Also I love coming to your site to listen to your tunes before I go out man, Always loved your shit Greg. cheers

A Gregoir! Good to hear you! Mike played these songs for me when he was in TO after the show at Avant Garde. I was very impressed then but I've been sad not to hear the songs anymore. Now I know where to find them and you!
whoa! have you seen zoolander? there is a whole load of blue steel going on in that photo!
is lovely to hear from you...you should come over to the uk soon?then the graycrayon/GreggyB duet magic can be brought to europe!

Hey man that song "Nothing at All" is a beautiful tune. -Melody is incredible. The recording at the Avant Garde sounds pretty sweet. Nice Job! Happy New Year! Remember 2001? George does...
I've only heard "Whatever It Was" so far and it was really, really good...you are starting to sound like Alex Chilton circa "Big Star" when you sing high...in fact, track down the CD Sister Lovers (sometimes called Big Star Third) by Big Star...your life will never be the same afterwards.
shit man...i was ridin' home from our hockey game...with your bro....and i'm like 'are you goin' to Greg's show man?'...he's like...dude...that was last weekend!!!
