But this was how it was back in The Day...Previously signed to dance label Stress Related (DMC), the Manitou project evolved out of the HipHop/Jazz scene of the mid 90's, focused around legendary Leeds club The Cooker and Touchwood Studio. Manitou fused an eclectic sound that simmered somewhere between chilled Hip Hop & Jazz influenced Drum & Bass, tinged with the lingering flavour of the funk. Manitou also bagged some puckah remixes on the way including: SLY & THE FAMILY STONE; HEATWAVE; OZOMATLI; MORCHEEBA; CHEVELLE FRANKLIN & BEENIE MAN; IMOGEN HEAP and a stack of Hindi film tunes. Manitou are artistically dormant at the moment and have handed creative activities over to sister outfit Sound Alibi who are muckin about with video-art and screen-dance projects.
