I think most singer-songwriters or musicians who love what they do have experienced being in that magical place of utter contentment while performing; some call it being in the zone, while others call it being home...or maybe that's just me. I first felt that while playing at a little student folk club in England. Some time later I wrote my own songs and performed them at wonderful venues such as NoBlackTie, Actor's Studio Bangsar, and KLPac in Kuala Lumpur, Acoustic Routes in Cambridge, UK, and The Esplanade in Singapore. I met amazing musicians and singer-songwriters along the way who inspired me to explore my songs further. 'Feels Like Falling' was recorded in 2003, and went on to win the top download award on musiccanteen.com, 2005. I've put up the stripped down version here which I quite like. 'Do you see me like you' was written for an award winning documentary called Alice Lives Here (Freedom Film Fest, KL, 2005).
'My Time' was written for another documentary on the collapse of the Highland Towers 13 years ago (Freedom Film Fest, 2006).
heya! if you're free this thursday night (3rd may), drop by laundry bar @ the curve. i'll be doing a set - some new tunes, a spanking new band and a troupe of dancing midgets. come!
Hi meichern,
I just wanted to drop you a note and hope you've had a happy Easter/ Passover. Holidays always give me time to pause and think of those friends and family who are in my life. It also gives me time to be thankful for each of them... including you. Thank you again for your friendship, I am grateful for you. Have a wonderful week!
Tim

Hi Mei Chern! Thanks for adding us as freinds of yours. Such an honour. :) U make beautiful songs with your beautiful voice & soothing music. "Feels like falling" is a splendid, wonderful tune! God bless!
oh wow! you were really there? i thought i saw you in the crowd from the stage but i wasn't too sure...anyways, thanks a lot! and all the best to you too!
cheers
Hi Meichern, just a quick hello and thanx for your kind words and sorry for my delay in the reply.
Thanx for sharing your musical ideas.
Take care.
Marcello.
I found you on music canteen some time ago. You only had one song up. On the strength of that one song, I decided that I must worship you as one of my favourite female singer-songwriters.
Ok, "worship" is a strong word. I love everything about your songs - your music, your lyrics and your voice. You must put up more songs. Or release an album.
And I'm thrilled to finally be able to tell you that... short of flying down to wherever you happen to be and tracking you down. That'll be a bit too creepy.
your welcome, and thank you!
aww shuckss, well do check back later when your line's up again and feel free to drop in a comment or two!
cheers

hullo meichern, finally got the chance to drop in a comment, so i'd just like to say that i've been listening to "do you see me like you" over and over again, and it truly is one of the best songs from the compilation! hauntingly beautiful, absolutely brilliant. hope to catch you live soon
cheers

I was blown away with your vocals on 'Do u c me like u"? I bought the "Voices From Next Door" CDs and I just love the song and the line, "It's easier if u don't c me like u". Well captured emotions. Perfect vocals. I had been playing CD1 for 2 days and when I popped CD2 in and the first line came on, I actually said aloud "wow" and picked up the case to look at who it was. Serious. Brilliant.
