Mike learned his first song at the age of 7. By the age of twelve, he was writing his own music and playing well beyond his years. At sixteen he enjoyed the success of his first band, “The Appalachian Barnhouse Band,” playing popular venues in the NEPA region. Over the last five years Mike has played with such talents as Merle Saunders (Legion of Mary, The Jerry Garcia Band), Don Preston (Frank Zappa and the Mothers), Chuck Garvey, Al Schnier, Vinne Amico & Jim Loughlin (moe.), Jake Cinninger & Joel Cummins (Umphrey's McGee), Charlie Hitchcock & Ben Combe (Particle), Jeff Pevar (Phil Lesh, CSN, Ray Charles, Donald Fagen, Jackson Browne), Michael Glabicki (Rusted Root), Jen Z (Antigone Rising), Marc Ford (The Black Crowes, Ben Harper), Willy Waldman (Snoop Dog, Tu-Pac, Banyan), Gordon Stone, Creed Bratton (the Grassroots, NBC's The Office), George Wesley, and many more.
