In 1794 there were rumours that an attempt was about to be made on the life of the British monarch George III. The event was called The Popgun Plot and it's where this musical project got its name. The conspirators, it was claimed, planned to shoot the king in the neck with a poisoned dart from a pop-gun while he sat in the royal box of a theatre. However, the threat to the thone was invented by a group loyal to the king who wanted to arrest and imprison the alleged conspirators, who were people they just didn't like. Imagine a State inventing a threat in order to justify violence? It just wouldn't happen today would it?
