DEBUT ALBUM - JANUARY 2012
NO FAIRYTALE
A concept album bringing together folk myths and fairytales, with a dark twist and an absolute wealth of special guests. Recorded at Ranscombe Studios. Sample tracks now online. See www.rosieeade.co.uk/music.htm for more details.
"Rosie has a strong characterful voice ... her experience tells. She deserves to be better known.", Rock-n-Reel, 2012
"Rosie Eade, one of the finest new voices on the acoustic scene", Burnham-On-Sea Folk Festival.
"Rosie's own songs... played alongside traditional folk ... are infused with a sense of urgency. A balance of powerful yearning and personal reflection.” Scrumpy 'n' Western.
Rosie Eade "Folk-Pixie": Solo musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, playing lively and evocative life inspired songs of her own, interspersed with carefully chosen traditional songs, all arranged around her love of folk, rock and thrashing her old nylon strung guitar. Equally at home within the folk, rock and acoustic genres, she plays at folk-clubs, pubs and festivals throughout the country; recent years have included Glastonbury's Avalon Cafe, Beautiful Days, Rochester Sweeps and Bearded Theory. Likened to the voices of Kate Bush, Maddy Prior and Grace Slick, yet inspired by The Who as much as Steeleye Span, she has supported the likes of Julie Fowlis, Nick Harper, Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick, Dave Pegg & PJ Wright, and Holly Golightly, to high acclaim. 2012 sees Rosie touring her debut album "No Fairytale" - a concept album bringing together folk myths and fairytales, with a dark twist and an absolute wealth of special guests. Rosie has come a long way since being complimented by the Irish World for her first performance in the Cambridge Folk Festival club tent back in 2002, but the guitar remains and, with or without band, people are still surprised how this little "folk-pixie" can make music that sounds so much larger.
Rosie also sings and plays sax/whistles with folk-rock band 'Hedgepig'; legends on the Cambridge pub circuit, they also pop up at various summer festivals and have twice pre-headlined at their local - Ely Folk Festival. In the summer festival season Rosie tours as the whistle player 'Molly Malone' for skiffle-punk band 'Hobo Jones and The Junkyard Dogs', playing Glastonbury Avalon Main Stage, Beautiful Days Main Stage and Larmer Tree, + The Levellers' support for their 2009 spring UK tour. This has led to a new solo-duo act with Davey Malone (aka Hobo Jones) - moving effortlessly between the roles of solo musician and accompanist, they create a night of vibrant and enjoyable music. Rosie can also been seen performing as a duo, 'Eaden', with Tim Paulden on piano; re-inventing some of Rosie's own material while also covering a wider range of artists, from Evanescence to Cyndi Lauper.
Rosie is available for gigs and festivals in the above line-ups, and also as a session musician for gigs and recording; playing guitar, whistles, alto saxophone and piano, in addition to singing.

Reviews:
"No Fairytale is ROSIE EADE's solo debut and it lives up to its title. Rosie has a strong characterful voice and mixes her own songs with traditional material. She's been around with Cambridgeshire band Hedgepig for a while and her experience tells. She deserves to be better known.", Rock-n-Reel, 2012."‘No Fairytale’ from Rosie Eade - multiple facets of folk rock (June 27, 2012)" "If the debut album ‘No Fairytale’ from Rosie Eade doesn’t find a place in folk rock fame then something is sadly wrong. There is enough presence and power in this album to raise the dead." Tim Carroll, folkwords.com, 2012.
"A wonderful counterpoint to Rosie, they [Rosie Eade and Davey Malone] combine their performances to great effect." Bradninch Folk Club, 2012.
"A huge favourite of ours, Rosie mixes powerful trad covers with her own evocative songs; she's punchy, lively and touching ... playing tracks from her brilliant new album, No Fairytale", Burnham-On-Sea Folk Festival, 2011.
"L'ajout de la belle voix feminine de Rosie Eade participe de cette richesse instrumentale, depouillee certes, mais bien reelle, ainsi qu'en temoignent Rapunzel ou Once upon a time", (Grimm, by Paul Roland) www.musicinbelgium.net, 2011.
"Rosie Eade, one of the finest new voices on the acoustic scene", Burnham-On-Sea Folk Festival, 2010.
"Her strong, beautiful voice reminds us of Celia Humphris from Trees. Yes, she's that good", Burnham Folk Festival, 2009.
"Her voice, that of a young Kate Bush tempered with the measured tones of Stevie Nicks", Scrumpy 'n' Western, 2008.
"We have another very talented singer songwriter on our hands. Rosie normally plays with the Folk Rockers Hedgepig but is proving to be an accomplished solo performer in her own right", Milk Maid Folk Club, 2007.
"A mix of Maddy Prior and Stevie Nicks", Ely Folk Festival, 2006.
"Clearly flavoured by Steeleye Span influences but ... sounding more Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane than Maddy Prior", Wheeliebinland, 2006.
"Known for her thoughtful and delicately crafted songs accompanied by classical guitar", Cambridge News, 2004.

...as many of you may know, Hedgepig was born under the watchful eye of a fantastic little pub in Cambridge called the St. Radegund on King Street. This month, Sat. 29th September (9pm), Hedgepig will be raising a glass to Terry "Bunter" Kavanagh (1937-2012), who was landlord between 1992 and 2009 and watched Hedgepig grow from young beer drinking musicians to rather less young but still beer drinking musicians. Bring your voices, your instruments and your memories and join Hedgepig for an evening of music and right fine ale.
