Hello all from Boudhanath, One of the most sacred stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. I feel so home here. Although the situation here is bit unstable for many of my people, but this place is a safe haven for our people for a long time.
Today is the last day of the Saka Dawa, Buddha's Birth, death and enlightenment. The Boudhanath stupa is going to be very busy. I went there this morning and offered my prayers. Yesterday, I met an elderly Tibetan who use to live in Dharamsala. After a Kora, we went to a famous Cafe where some of their friends meet. Most of them are over 50s. It was nice to hang out and listen to some of their local political discussion.
I am leaving today to Delhi-Moscow and then to the Bay Area. It was nice here to meet many younger generation Tibetans. Some are musicians and some are enterprenourships.
I am working on this little write up at the Cafe Dream Factory, which is run by couple of young Tibetans aimed at community-building around Tibetan refugee youth. They employ young Tibetans and give them a future. It is a very interest place and if you are here next time do visit this special place.
I hope all is good in your life.
Many blessings from Boudhanath, Kathmandu.
June 2, 2009 Techung and lhasa spirits had a two shows in Republic of Kalmykia and Moscow with fantastic line up of Russian and Mongolian musicians. They were all juwels of music. Here are some pictures from Kalmykia. Copy this link and Enjoy

Techung is a Tibetan singer/songwriter living
in exile in the San Francisco Bay Area.
He is best known for his performances of traditional
Tibetan music, dance, and opera under the name
Tashi Dhondup Sharzur. He uses his childhood nickname,
Techung, when performing as a solo artist. Whether
performing in traditional or contemporary styles, Techung's
dual goals are to revive Tibetan
music in the Tibetan community and to expose the rich
performing
cultural tradition of his homeland to the world community

In addition to being looked up to as one of the key keepers of
traditional
Tibetan musical traditions, he is known for the original solo and
collaborative
music he composed by drawing on both his own heritage and his
familiarity
with other world music traditions. He has collaborated on his first solo
album,
"Yarlung: Tibetan Songs of Love and Freedom" (1997) with
composer/performer
Miguel Frasconi, followed by "Sky Treasure" (2001) with Windham Hill jazz
keyboardist Kit Walker. His other two solo albums were "Chang Shae:
Traditional Tibetan drinking songs, Vol. 1" (1999) and "Nyingtop-Courage"
(2002). "Sempai Rewa-A Hope in Hear" (2006)

His song "Losar" was chosen as the 2003 best modern traditional
Tibetan song at the first annual Tibetan Music Awards held in Dharamshala.
His voice and music have been featured on the soundtracks of the IMAX film
"Everest," the feature film "Windhorse," and
"Dreaming Lhasa"(www.whitecranefilm.com), award winning
documentary film "BLINDSIGHT" (http://www.blindsightthemovie.com)
which will be in theaters soon. His music has also been used in a DVD
titled LIVING WISDOM WITH HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA by Don Farber
and published by Sounds True (www.soundstrue.com). In recent years,
he had the honor to open for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s public speech in
Costa Rica, Japan and USA. He has been the headliner at the biggest Tibetan
Music Festival in exile, an annual event in south India that began in (www.gonpoentertainment.com). His album “Compilation of Tibetan Folk and

The greatest achievement is selflessness. The greatest worth is self-mastery. The greatest quality is seeking to serve others. The greatest precept is continual awareness. The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything. The greatest action is not conforming with the worlds ways. The greatest magic is transmuting the passions. The greatest generosity is non-attachment. The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind. The greatest patience is humility. The greatest effort is not concerned with results. The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go. The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances. Atisha
This existance of ours is as transient as autumn clouds. To watch the birth and death of beings is like looking at the movements of a dance. A lifetime is like a flash of lightning in the sky. Rushing by, like a torrent down a steep mountain.
"All the peace and happiness of the whole globe, the peace and happiness of societies, the peace and happiness of family, the peace and happiness in the individual persons' life, and the peace and happiness of even the animals and so forth, all depends on having loving kindness toward each other." Lama Zopa Rinpoche
Sorry it's been so long. I hope you are doing well. I send my love to you always, Barbara
Consider the following. We humans are social beings. We come into the world as the result of others' actions. We survive here in dependence on others. Whether we like it or not, there is hardly a moment of our lives when we do not benefit from others' activities. For this reason it is hardly surprising that most of our happiness arises in the context of our relationships with others. HH The 14th Dalai Lama
