The Charade will release a new album through Skipping Stones Records in september. It's called KEEPING UP APPEARANCES. It includes among ten other songs "The World Is Going Under" as heard above. This is what John Sakamoto of the Toronto Star says about the tune:
"This week's shiny pop entry from Sweden comes courtesy of a jangly trio that, judging by this preview, has developed a knack for pairing bleak lyrics and perversely snappy melodies. This dark/sunny amalgam pays homage to everything from the gentle psychedelic pop of '60s singer-songwriter Margo Guryan to Martha and the Vandellas' rollicking "Heat Wave."
You can download an entire compilation of fantastic popmusic at www.eardrumsmusic.com with a contribution from The Charade called "Ballad Of Uneasy Rider (Loaded Gun)". It's an alternative mix of a track from the forthcoming album. Other bands on the comp are, for example, Hello Saferide, Club 8 and labelmates Celestial. Enjoy!
THE STORY SO FAR:
Swedish jangle pop trio the Charade is Ingela Matsson (vocals), ex-Red Sleeping Beauty and Shermans member Mikael Matsson (keyboard, bass, drums), and ex-Happydeadmen member Magnus Karlsson (guitar, vocals). Karlsson met Mikael Matsson at a party in Stockholm in 2004, and due to distance they decided to exchange recordings through e-mail. They issued two albums through Skipping Stones: The Best Is Yet to Come (June 2005) and A Real Life Drama (June 2006). ~ Kenyon Hopkin, All Music Guide
