Haverhill Public Library Teen Department's Interests
General
books, music, movies, video games, computers, magazines
Music
I have lots of music- rap, rock, pop, country, oldies, classical, jazz, orchestral pieces. If I don't have something that you want, be sure to let Alissa know and she'll purchase it!
Movies
I have tons and tons and tons of movies on DVD and VHS. They are $1 for 1 week. Be careful that you're not late returning them though cause they have a $2 per day late fee.
Books
I have all kinds of Young Adult books- hardcovers, paperbacks, manga and comic books, and even books on cd and cassette. Oh yeah, I've got books for adults and children too.
Some of Alissa's favorites include A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks, Invisible by Pete Hautman, and Whale Talk by Chris Crutcher. Really, she has too many favorites to list here. She reads all kinds of teen books, so she is the person to ask if you need help finding a good book to read.
Heroes
Librarians, Authors, and Library users of course!
Haverhill Public Library Teen Department's Details
About me: I was really born in 1873 thanks to the generosity of E.J.M. Hale, who provided a lot on which to build a library along with half the cost of a furnished library building. The other half of the costs were raised by the people of Haverhill. Since then, the Board of Trustees has provided the funds for all the library materials, while the city provides funds for the maintence of the facilities and salaries of the staff. The original library building opened in 1875. The current library building was opened in June 1969, and in 1997 the current building was expanded and renovated to the building you know and love today.
Young Adult Librarian
Alissa has been here since November of 2004. You can usually find her at the Reference/Information desk or sitting back in the Teen area. She loves to read and is a great resource if you are looking for a new book to read.
Teens at The Library
The new Young Adult area was created in the library in 2005 and is still being developed. We are working hard to make the library a cool place for teens, so stop by and check it out! Do you have an opinion- let us know! The Library has a Teen Advisory Board that meets monthly and helps plan all the fun programs the library offers. If you are interested in becoming a member, stop by the Library and speak to Alissa.
